So Sunday I'm coming home on the train and I get to thinking back on the early to mid-80's when I proudly wore the uniform of the all the New Wave fans. Looking something like a cross between a Cyndi Pauper and a Duran Duran video. Yes, I'm serious. Then I remember I had a pair of Converse, Chuck Taylor, red canvas High top sneakers that I really loved. A dog we had when I moved to NM ate them.

I know they stopped making them in the US almost a decade ago. They make them in China now I think. But I wanted a good old pair, with the USA logo on them. I figured someone on Ebay must have a pair of size 13 Chucks. So I get online when I get home. Lo and behold, I find a pair of black ones, barely used, size 13. So I buy them outright on the Buy It Now option and pay for it through Pay Pal. $6 plus shipping.

I got the package yesterday, very happy about the Priority Shipping. I get inside the house and open my package to find a tiny little pair of YOUTH size 13 Chucks. In bewilderment I go back and read the original listing. Sure enough, the fine print says Boys or Girls size 13. Not having kids, I didn't know there was a difference.

They would make a nice ornament to hang over my car mirror. But I'd rather see someone get some use out of them. So if anyone has a kid that wants to look all retro and could wear a youth size 13 sneaker, let me know.

Sadly, I have it not saved except in my head. It'll turn up just when it'll be the most embarrassing. That's how pictures work.

I'll see if I can't find a size comparisson chart and see where a 13 youth sits next to a 4 adult. It was my own fault for not realizing there was a difference in sizes.

I found a comparrison so you could get the length of the shoes in inches. That would make these kid sized 13's somehwere around an adult size 3.

Cool stuff. I like how you call them heaps. Your studio is about as messy as mine. What is it about us creative folks?

Between an active shamanic practice. A Crystal healing practice, a jewelry design business and a photography studio, I have so much stuff it's always getting mixed up. But yes, I can still find everything.

The nice thing about Imagekind is you don't have to do anything after you get the images up and descriptions written. They make the sales and give you the money. That was a great idea on someone's part. I'm editing some cemetery shots right now for deathly_decayed and some of those will probably go up on there. Plus the house I got last weekend. Then I've got some more animal photos I need to put up as well.

I think depending on where you lived, people you ran with, where you hung out to dance. Those sorts of things had a bearing on how you dressed. I think I actually wore blue shiny parachute pants at one time as well.

i'm liking the fact that we're around the same age! most Lj'ers are pip squeaks, and therefore wouldn't get the parachute pant ref...

I'll have to find the photo of me from back then. I've posted it before but can't find the link right now. I worked in a mall theater when The Breakfast Club came out. I was wearing black boots and a wool trenchcoat for months after that. In fact it was a trenchcoat that led to me getting my right eyelid cut off. Ouch.

LMAO..Don't have any kids, and believe it or not those shoes would be too big for me. I think in boys shoes I'm something like a 1 or 2.
