Other than when I'm commenting on FL posts or asking for advice or fishing for compliments on my jewelry and photography, I've really enjoyed the connections and real friends I've made through LJ. I know some people have real life friends that are on LJ but I've met a ton of people in Real Life that I first met on LJ and there are a ton more that I'd like to meet.

There have also been several friends of the type that you get to talking with and realize you've shared past lives together and that sort of thing.

Through LJ, I've actually met in person 29 of my 149 listed friends. Ok, that's cheating a bit because I knew 2 of them, kalthia and tomyris_beat from several years ago. But still, that's 18% of my LJ friends that I've actually met as a result of LJ. I don't think too many people use LJ with the intention of actually going out and meeting these folks and becoming real friends. I do and chances are, if you friend me, I'll get around to coming to see you eventually.

3 of the 29 have even come to my house for my pre-4th of July parties. Very soon, I'll be wandering again and hope to add 3 more names at least to my "met list". Actually I know for almost certain I'll be meeting godorion at the Texas Highland Games in Dallas. And I know for an absolute fact I'll be meeting blurofego because she will be acting as my tour guide and fellow troublemaker for the week I'm there.

Sometimes you make an almost instantaneous connection with someone and you just have to explore it further. That's the way it was for chimerae and I and we have become very good friends and confidants to the point of planning metaphysical events together.

And this is the way it has been for blurofego and I. We've only known each other on LJ for a month and made contact for the first time 2 weeks ago. Since then, we've sat up late passing IM's back and forth through the ethers and we've talked on the phone several times. She's a Pagan, I'm a Shamanist. She's married with 3 kids and I've been living with the same person for almost 13 years now and childless by choice. Not really much in common on the surface but there was an instant spark of recognition when we began chatting. Something in each of us that recognized the other.

A very wise person told me once, we each spend our lives looking for other members of our tribe.

When you find one, you just have to go and get to know them better and so I shall. And I hope some time to meet with all of you others that may be members of my tribe and those who will end up simply being good friends.

I'm constantly amazed at the good things LiveJournal has brought my way.

Peace,

Wander

Reminds me, I still have your packet sitting on my altar. I'll have to send it, since it looks like hand delivery is unlikely at this point. :}

It's not unlikely forever. I'm hoping to make the trip later this year.

That was a VERY wise person and what a cool thought that after dancing among the stars we return here again and again to check in on old friends..I really like that. Peace

Just remember... In Texas 'Cowboy' is a lot different than farmer. Tour guide? I think 'Trouble Maker' is more accurate. We just have to avoid tequila and Country and Western Lesbian bars...

Now why would I want to avoid Tequila? Trouble maker is fine too. Life is good when you are being bad.

Tequila does not make my clothes fall off... But there is a country and western song for what it does make me do... "Don't ask her on a straight tequila night..."

Bad is a relative term...

Is there some type of liquor that does make your clothes fall off? That's the kind of useful information you need for a trip like this. Wouldn't want your clothes just falling off of you.

Can't think of a single drink that will get me naked... Although... I can think of a few that will coax me into dancing.
