No chocolate chip cookies. I have vivid dreams about those cookies. Peanut butter cookies, and oatmeal cookies just don't even come close. This is why I develop temporary addictions to things like Pecan Logs from Cracker Barrel. Then there was the month long addiction to sweetened condensed milk! Oh and the time I put a big scoop of sugar on top of corn syrup just to kill the craving for chocolate. Damn migraines! Why couldn't I be allergic to Guinness or something. That wouldn't be a tragedy, never to drink that stuff again.

Funny you should mention carob. When I was in first grade in the early 70's, I had this teacher, Ms. Daley. I went to an experimental school in where else? Los Angeles. She was a sixties flower child and a real health food nut. It was there I first heard about Carob because she was proposing the (then novel) idea that too much chocolate and caffeinated soda would make us all hyper. So I ate so much carob back then that I have a bad taste memory of it now. Maybe I need to re-school myself on it but I want something that tastes just like chocolate, not a little like it. Kinda like how Splenda doesn't really taste like sugar.

My experience with carob is that it tastes like chalk, with a slight chocolate aftertaste. Even now, those chips remind me of the "chocolate" Necco wafers - which I always traded with my sisters because I didn't really like the way chocolate tastes, even then.

Splenda does NOT taste like sugar.

I may have to revisit the whole carob issue. Sometimes I can fool myself into thinking yogurt covered raisins from Whole Foods are really White Chocolate covered raisins...sometimes.

Someday maybe they will make chocolate without the chemical that gives us all migraines. (those of use that have that allergy)

Isn't that odd? I only get the chocolate addiction when I'm eating it. If I leave it alone, eventually, the cravings go away completely.
What about butterscotch cookies?
Ok, how about this, what's your chocolate limit before it gives you a headache? I can have the worst chocolate cravings EVAR but a tiny bit of one of those 85% dark chocolate bars takes care of it. Half a square does the trick. Maybe a corner of a piece will do it for you?

If a piece of chocolate cake touches my white cake and leaves chocolate crumbs, i get a migraine. White chocolate gives me migraines too just not as severe as milk or gods forbid dark chocolate.

My sweetie is in the same boat!!! And the lust for chocolate expands to an almost unbearable urge during the time of the headaches; this morning she is on the third day of drinking toxic-tasting Chinese herbs to relieve her misery since none of the prescription drugs from the MD works. She'd kill for a Snickers bar right now.

People have asked me why I just don't eat some chocolate while I'm having the migraine, to them I answer, "You think I want to make that worse?"

Those people have no..understanding of how horrible it is. Jaen's are so bad that her entire face will bruise severely. Looks like someone worked her over with a bat; then there are times, like last week, when she will literally spray blood from her tear ducts from the intensity and pressure of the headaches. Sounds unbelieveable but it's true. I was able to photograph the last event of this occurring!!

There have been times when I seriously considered taking a hand drill to my head to relieve the pain.

OMG, I love pecan logs. My daughter gets bad migraines. I wonder if this is the cause.

If migraines are regular I'd say there was an environmental cause of some sort. It's the chocolate, red wine and some aged cheeses that cause mine. Pecan logs are just a substitute to make the cravings go away.

Whilst Guinness itself tastes something akin to battery acid, no Guinness would mean no Irish Car Bombs, and that would be a travesty indeed.

I love marinating chicken in Guinness so yeah, I'd miss it too. I'm still not sure how people develop a taste for that foulness to drink though. So I'm thinking the latter part of the week of the 10-16 of August for a visit down your way. You free?

Maple candy. Circus peanuts. Peanut brittle. Jelly Bellies. Butterscotch. Brickle ANYTHING. Cookie dough. Cheesecake. Tiger Bars. Toffee. Key lime pie.

*Comes out of the candy addiction reverie* - Uh, I feel your pain... except for the Guinness part. First beer I ever drank and wholeheartedly loved, and I'll always love it.
