Thankful

Last Friday I was thankful for the Marshall County Sheriff Deputy who stopped alongside the road between Henry and Sparland to see if we were OK. We asked him after awhile if he needed to get going. He pointed to the stripes on his arm and said, "Nope, the stripes say I can wait here as long as I want and let the other deputies take care of things!"

He called a tow for us because brilliant me left my cell phone in my truck the previous weekend. They were on another job so it took them awhile.

I knew what the problem was. Figured it out in about 5 minutes after coming to a stop. Pulled the main fuel line and had Deb crank the engine. Yep...getting fuel. Pulled to main coil wire and held it next to the engine block and had Deb crank the engine. Nope...no spark. Coil is dead. No roadside fixes for that either.

The deputy told us he'd just gotten nearly a pound of meth off the street earlier that evening. The driver of the car actually dared him to search for it. Hell, his car clearly said K-9 unit. Pretty ballsy of the guy to dare a cop to find it. The deputy was pretty proud of it. I was happy for him. I didn't tell him my story about getting searched for drugs a couple years back.

Tow truck finally came and took us and the car to Peoria after calling around to several parts stores for us, looking for a coil. Auto Zone finally had one. Driver dropped us off right at the store. Nice folks. $126 for the tow. $123 for the part. Took me literally 5 minutes to change it and I was back on the road.

Could have done without the breakdown and paying for parts and tow but if you have to do it, being around such nice people is the way to go.

Peace,

Wander

I'm glad it worked out for you, and it was a relatively easy fix. Though I know the wallet takes a hit.

Take care.

Last week I came out to a flat tire at my satellite office and a random guy changed it for me. As I was penniless, I borrowed $10 from my boss to give him.

Good Samaritans still exist apparently.
