Time for pix

My landlord and I went out on a photo shoot last night. The theme, The City by Night with Avaialble Light. Two of these images were shot from locations where it was illegal to be at the time. The third was shot standing right in the middle of the street with one of us looking out for traffic.

The Bell Tower and the Dubuque County Courthouse as seen from the Mississippi River Bluff.

Loras Blvd descending into the city from the Mississippi River Bluff.

The Julien Dubuque Bridge over the Mississippi River with stars above. This was a 30 second exposure and taken at nearly Midnight but the long exposure and full moon make it look like early morning.

Peace,

Wander

Yeah, if my camera was a little better, I'd do only night photography. I get too much noise.

These were all shot on ISO 200 so not much noise at all.

I shoot at 100 (I just force it with a tripod) and it's all noised to hell.
I know that the sensor heats up the longer the shutter stays open and all but I also have the cheapest DSLR Sony makes so I expect price to be my issue.

Now let me ask you something about picture #1, but don't think about it ever again if you didn't notice it before--I have symmetrical issues, LOL I don't want YOU to get symmetrical issues too just because I said something.
Does it jump out at you as being crooked? Because all of mine do and if you don't notice on yours what I notice on mine, maybe I shouldn't let it bother me so much. On the other hand, I just saw yesterday that they make a hot-shoe level so you can always have the picture straight. Of course, only if you use a tripod and have a lot of time to fiddle. Which is why I think maybe it bothers me more than it should.

Varying perspectives is what differentiates art from just plain photos. That is my perspective.

I think it's too much time on Photo Camel. They nit pick everything to death.

The big iconic photos we always think of were mostly shot very quickly without much thought to whether the frame was level or not. Life doesn't happen on a level playing field.

Thanks. It was a really enjoyable shoot. I hope to get some good shoots in CA if I can get out there this Fall.
