Well it was an interesting day if nothing else. I went truck shopping again over the weekend for the truck my Dad will buy for himself when he gives me his later this month. Sounds complicated doesn't it. It wasn't that bad actually. I drove a nice 2001 S-10 on Saturday which was the pick of the litter of the ones I found in Macomb. Only negative was it was a 4 cylinder rahter than a V-6 which more what we were looking for. But just the same I drove it and really could not tell the differnce between the power of the 4 and the small V-6's. I hesitantly reccomended it to Dad with the caveat "It's your money of course..." I wasn't real comfortable with it though $10, 900 is sitll a lot of money for me and thoughI know he wouldn't have sufferd much, I wanted to find him the best deal I could now that we're actually talking like father and son recently. I think Mom may have come down on him for bitching at me about the farm the last couple of years. eitehr that or he's just as tired of fighting with me as I am with him.

So Sunday, BallPark calls me and say's he has a nice truck on his lot down in Virginia and would I like to come look at it. So I go on down there. He was right it was a nice truck. Less money and more truck than the other one. Metallic green, 96 Chevy C1500 regular cab. Vinyl bed cover. Great crushed velvet interior. 305 Vortec V-8 w/230 hp. 85, 000 miles $7,350. So I asked BallPark to hold it for me for a day adn I went home and called Dad. We discussed it for 5 minutes adn he said "SOLD". So I called BallPark back and told him we'd take it and I'd call him this morning with particulars. I wished Dad a happy Father's Day an asked if Mom had given him the set of Carftsman Router Bits I'd gotten him and put my brother's name on as well. He thanked us for them profusely.

So this morning, I'm in my office emailing Dad and the car dealership to get the sale ironed out. And I'm chatting with purrrgatori about the trip her an cuddles will be taking to get out here for my party this weekend when Deb calls and tells me she's going to be late to work because our oldest cat Peeker is dragging his butt across the living room flooor. Lovely image eh? She was going to be taking him to the vet. So I said I'd see her when she got here. About half an hour later, the vet calls and tells me Deb has been bitten on the hand by Peeker and needs to go to the hospital. So I rush out and get to the vet and Deb is indeed bleeding all over the place. 5 deep puncture wounds in her right hand. So I get her to the hospital and they do whatever they do including draining her hand because cat spit is mildy irritating and makes her hand swell like a baloon. An hour later, I've taken her home and she's resting and I go back to work to answer all the questions about how Deb is. I told them we were going to have to amputate the hand and kill the cat but other than that things would be fine. She has to fly to Dallas Friday. That should be fun with her hand all bandaged!

The rest of the day was pretty sedate after all that. I'll have the new truck by Wednesday night and will probably drive it until Dad comes back this way the following week.

ain't life grand?

*is impressed*

Shame I can't make it. I found something really neat in the basement but I think it got tossed out so it all balances out.

Ow! When Bonnie was pregnant with Elizabeth, we had a big orange cat who didn't quite have all his marbles. He must not have liked Bonnie's pregnant scent because he laid into her one day and bit her forearm. You'd never think that an animals that small would have such large bites. She's still got scars from it.

Peeker is normally pretty docile. He just lays around the house all day but he always goes ape shit when we take him to the vet. Last night at home he was completely oblivious to the fact he'd bit her. I'm not really a cat person so I'm glad that Jake is the only one who travels with us between houses. Peeker and Jasper stay in the city. The farm is Jake the Dog's domain.
