Well I'm still basking in praise from the Press OK last week. Once I sobered up from the high of being sleep deprived, I made the trip back to Peoria On Thursday. I missed muse again but did stop by her place of employment to purchase some decaf blackberry green tea...mmmm. I'm pretty humble most of the time concerning my abilities. But no one besides me likes to go on Press OK's and damnit, I do them very well. So I allow myself the small conceit of basking in praise of a job well done for a couple days when I return. So far both my immediate boss and the department head as well as the division head and many of my co-workers have come in to tell me my reputation for excellent Press OK's is still intact. The next one will probably come in early December when I have to help train another fellow who wants to see how the process goes. Anyway, I'm quite happy with the book. It was an excellent way to put a stamp of closure on two years of hard work. Looks like next week, I'll get another book. I've been tech ed boy for 3 years now so maybe they'll give me a Home Ec book to do this time around. If they do, I'm going ot put in extra time and get it done faster than anyone can imagine. I want that promotion and raise this year. There are job openings in the company in both California and Ohio and I'm looking heavily at those. Yes it would be a move to a denser population area and as much as I loathe cities, it would also mean a raise along the lines of $10-15 thouasand a year and that's nothing to sneeze at.

I need to wander over to Manufacturing and request 3 dozen copies of the book when it is bound next week. So I can send them out as comps to all the folks who sent me photos for this project.

Deb and I had a most enjoyable weekend. Saturday was very warm so we loaded up Jake in the famr truck and went for a wild romp across my farm fields, spotting deer and hawks and finding a few dead trees we can pull down and out with the tractor. I need to get some cut wood to my aunt Peggy for her wood stove anyway. It's been cold except for the weekend and will only get colder.

Mid afternnon, we went over to Beardstown to the video store to return the videos from my trip and pick up some more. Deb hadn't seen Windtalkers so I rented it along with a few no-brainers. Windtalkers is good, but for anyone wnating to see it, I'll warn you it's as much about the horors of war as it is about the relationships between the soldiers or the codetalkers themselves. In fact it doesn't go into much detail about the code or the language. But it's still good. I don't envy Adam Beach and the otehr Native actors the task of learning even the small amount of Navajo they had to learn for their lines. it's a bitch of a language to learn. I've been trying for about 8 years now and i've only really managed a few words and almost no sentences. It's the pronunciation that really kills you. You want to pronounce it like Spanish but you can't. It's one of those languages that the same spelling of a word may have differnt meanings depending on how they are pronounced. And without a Native Speaker to help you, it's almost impossible to know if you are doing it right.

We spent a good part of the day out exploring old dirt backroads. We came to a dead end and found an ancient farm to explore. Lots of things to photograph and I did. Owl and Hawk were there. Good signs. Deb and I held hands and kissed while leaning against an old oak. Yellow leaves falling around us and golden light filtering through the branches and bringing out the raven blue and red/gold highlights in her black hair and dappling her tan cheeks. And I recalled the first days of innocent love we shared when we first met. On the way back to the car we marveled at some deer tracks and tried to guess the weight of the deer and what she had been eating from the scat.

We ate well this weekend. I made the 65 mile round trip to Macomb to get her snow crab legs and lobster and she stuffed the mushrooms and roasted the red potatoes. We sat around for awhile just talking before heading into town to go bowling with Gwen and Carolyn and Evin. Afterward, we sat on the couch with the lights low watching movies and holding each other until we fell asleep, later crawling up the stairs to a huge warm bed and sleeping late Sunday.

Most of Sunday was spent making jewelry. She managed 8 bracelets and I got 4 necklaces done. We have a sale in the office on Friday so I need to do more still. Between now and then, I also have a talke to do on tracking and stalking animals and people so it will be a busy week.

Peace,

Wander

you!
I was disappointed to return home after work and get your message. I got off work on Thursday at one-thirty, quite hungover. Please do give me a ring later in the week. I've laundry to do! :-)

I did try to call your mobile phone yesterday afternoon, but you were out of the vehicle. Please do call soon.

Re: you!
OK, I'll see what the weekend looks like. This week for me is about as chaotic as last week was for you. But the weekend should be better. Plus payday is Friday!

Re:
Yeah and then Sunday it turned cold enough we didn't want to be outside. I want it to be cold but I'm not really ready for it yet.

Re:
Yeah and it would be in Woodland Hills so no escape from the slime of the city. I'm just considering it at this point. still if you were in the area the scenery would be nice at least.
