Creature of the Night

Ok this has gotten addictive. Many thanks to whomever I stole the link from in the first place. I find myself going back a couple times a day to play.

Join if you want to.

Freaking cold here again today. -10 with the windchill but supposed to be 42 tomorrow which will seem like beach weather compared to the last few days. We had a minor blizzard last night and *gasp* thunderstorms despite a high temp of 15 degrees.

I've decided I'm going to remodel the parlor off the bathroom at the farm. I'm tired of looking at the cracks in the 1945 wallpaper. And why anyone would want to wallpaper the ceiling is beyond me. Luckily the stuff on the ceiling is to the point of almost falling off on its own so I'll peel it off and paint. Then I'll probably paint the walls too. Tear up the old indoor/outdoor carpet which was probably a good choice for the room between the bathroom and kitchen but I'm going to take it down to the wood floor and refinish that and then just use some throw rugs as accents. It will help showcase the antique leather and wood furniture a little better.

Can you tell I've got cabin fever?

Why would you need to have solar lights in a cemetery? Outside of Rushville, when I'm headed to Peoria for work, there is this little ancient cemetery. No more than 150 graves or so. On Sundays it's usually well past dark when I go back to the city and I pass this little graveyard on the left. For several weeks now I've been seeing a large rectangle of lights. Not a reflection of my headlights but actual lights. Now this is a place without electricity and no floodlights because it's not an active cemetery anymore. More of a historical one for a church that is long gone. First time I saw the lights I swear I thought aliens had landed. The next week, I thought it might be a car parked there but then wondered why people would visit after dark. Today I passed in the early light of dawn and realized it was those solar lights you put along your sidewalk or garden path. So now I'm wondering why you need solar lights in a cemetery where no one has been buried in 50 years. after all, they are all dead and long past the need for light. It's a mystery anyway.

And while we are on mysteries, did you see the media response to the terrorism threats? "make sure you have plenty of duct tape and plastic sheeting to seal up your home in the event of an airborne biological or chemical attack."

Does anyone but me see the error in this plan? If you've ever had to do any kind of housing construction you realize quickly just how incredibly difficult it would be to seal up all the places air comes in with just a roll of plastic and duct tape. After all, a house, any house is not like a fish tank. It's not like you can just seal off the windows and doors and nothing can get in. Afterall, bugs adn rodents get into houses all the time seemingly from nowhere. Plus a house was never meant to be hermetically sealed. It is meant to breath so you can have a supply of fresh air. Have you ever seen how they put a big tent over a house when they fumigate for pests? You think you are going to come close to that with your Home Depot roll of plastic and duct tape? And what about all those pipes on your roof? You know the ones that are outlets for your heat and gasses from your sewer and such? What about those? They let in air as well. But if you seal them up, you might as well turn off the gas too and freeze. And what about all the vents that are deliberately built under the eaves and around the foundation? Chances are you will be outside trying to seal all this crap up if an attack ever comes.

I noticed in all these warnings they've not mentioned just how long you might have to stay in your fishtank house if an attack occurs. Are we talking days, weeks, months? After living that long in a sealed house, you might start to think it would have been better to be outside rather than deal with all the smells you will encounter inside. Better stock up on milk, bread and toilet paper! It might be a long wait.

Oh and I sat up late and got all my bracelets on Ebay as well. Earrings are next, probably later today and then next week I'll start listing some crystals as well.

Anyway, you can see it all Here

And is there anyone else who just feels sorry for Ozzy Osbourne? Shuffling around his mansion like some long forgotten relic in a rest home and having to put up with Sharon and her cat humping dogs? I think social services should come take possesion of the kids and do them and us all a big favor. Maybe Ozzy could get some rest then.

Peace,

Wander

I'm just babbling.
You put lights in a cemetary to A: Make it look nice and B: Keep out vandals.

Ozzy does look sad. They should get him one of those electric wheel chairs.

Re: I'm just babbling.
This cemetery has no fences around it and the lights are just in a 10 foot rectangle around 1 grave. I think some family put them up like when the VFW puts flags on veterans graves. They are not around the whole cemetery. That I could see.

A Rascal Scooter for Ozzy. Should we take up a collection?

Yeah, I thought the plastic sheeting and duct tape was a little ridiculous, too. I mean, if there's a huge biological/chemical attack, we should just consider ourselves fucked and learn to deal with the chemical as it is... try to die with a little dignity instead of flailing around like an idiot.

But, in reality, I think it's just more propaganda.

If it makes you feel better, I remember when they read Bible stories in school.

Kinda like that letter they sent around "report suspicious activity"... so basically, Muslims, right? that's what they're really saying...

Re:
Yeah someone was saying on the radio this morning how they say they are not using racial profiling in airport security sweeps but hey, it's probaly not going to be your 90 yeard old grandma with her orthapedic sneakers who smuggles a bomb on a plane. Most terrorist acts are commited by Middle Eastern males between the ages of 20 and 50 so who are you going to look at the hardest? Not saying it's right or fair but that's the reality of it.

I think statistically, drunk white rock stars cause more trouble on airplanes than Muslims do.

Re:
True if you look at it statistically, terrorism is a really small percentage of the dangers of flying. It just gets more press than drunk white rock stars...heheh

Re the plastic and duct tape - *bizarre*. Wouldn't it be a whole lot easier to invest in a gas mask? Why wrap up an entire house when you can just wrap up your head? It boggles.
