Enough already...

A fine dusting of snow on the cars this morning and a Winter Storm Advisory for this Afternoon. I've got my car rental reservation for next Friday. If this weather messes up my plans to go to NC, I'll be really pissed! Last night, a little bit of karma finally kicked in. A short history of our dispute with the dance studio up the street: We moved into our present house 2 years ago. We loved the house and the nice quiet neighborhood, just a few blocks from the most upscale neighborhood in the city. Every house has a driveway so parking shouldn't be a problem except Deb and I have different schedules so if I get home before her, I have to park on the street so she can get in the driveway first since I leave first in the morning. The dance center on the corner has this tiny parking lot, only big enough for 8 cars or so. So their solution is to have their clients park up and down the streets in our neighborhood which royally pisses off those of us who live there. It's pretty bad when you pay $685 a month for rent and you can't park in front of your own house. All the neighbors have complained and asked the city to give us assigned parking zones to no avail. We've complained to the Dance Center but all the upper middle class soccer mom type clients just laugh at you and say the street is public property and they have just as much right to park there as we do. Now in most places I've ever lived, the parking in front of the house has been considered sacred and you neighbors will ask you to park there if they are having a party or something. Not so in Peoria. Last year, I used to put notes on people's cars asking them to leave me a little space to park and was rewarded with a note on my door calling me an asshole and all the Dance Center clients telling their kids to stay clear of the "Mean Asshole Down the Street". Fine! at least I'm an asshole who can park in front of my own house. So last night, about 8, I go out to the beer store. and when I come back, I hear the characterisitc sound of wheels spinning. Just across the street, two of the girls who teach at the Dance Center have their Chevy S10 stuck in the snow. Bwahahahahahahahaha! Wouldn't have happened if they hadn't parked on the street in front of my neighbor's house. Bwahahahahahaha! Plus, they were both wearing short leotards and no coats. Dumb Shits. Of course they had no idea how to get unstuck and insisted on racing the engine and spinning the tires, thus digging themselves in even more. I resisted the temptation to just stand there and laugh and got my shovel and went to help them. Shortly after, their father got there he didn't have any gloves so I lent him a pair of mine and we both went to digging. We fianlly got the wheels clear and he said we needed some weight for the back wheels. He was going to shovel wet snow in the back when I told him I would just get in back and jump up and down. He said he didn't think it was enough weight. I told him I weighed 265 lbs. I think it's enough. Sure enough, it was and they got out. The father even said Merry Christmas to me. Well that was right nice of him. Almost made me feel bad about being an asshole over the parking thing...almost.

Earlier in the evening, I tried to make a turn off the main road to go pay my cable bill and ended up sliding across two lanes of traffic and into a snow bank. No one was hurt.

I worked until 3 am scanning all of our jewelry and getting it into some sense of an online catalog. It's not nearly the way I wanted it but it's there. Soon as it went up this morning, I sold 6 pieces. Now I'll have to go home at lunch and put little SOLD signs on things. So if you want to see whay we've got, go here

Pink Coyote Designs Catalog

I think we are going to close early today. Too many out-of-towners work here and they won't want to go home in the dark in the snow. Rushville, where the farm is already closed schools so driving there tonight should be fun. Fed Ex is coming early so I've got to get some packages ready.

If I were You.
Now you see if I were in your position I'd buy myself a real mean ass dog. You probably already got one with that farm of yours but I'd get me one that just loved the taste of blod. Feed it nothing but bloody stakes all day. Then when somebody got stuck in the snow after I'd told them not to I'd just sic the dog on em. Sure it's mean but I think it'd get my point across. Soccer moms are the bane of my existence to.

Re: If I were You.
Problem with my dog is he never even barks. He's not been raised around otehr dogs so now if another dog barks, he just looks at them funny. He even pissed on one for barking at him. Only one time have I ever even heard him bark. Dad and I were walking our fence line looking for things to repair when we come upon this stump that had been hit by lightning, Jake's hackles raiese up and he bares his teeth and starts barking his fool head off at the stump. We actually had to pull him off. Maybe it was a demonic stump or something. I don't think he'd make a very good blood thirsty protector.

Re: A good soul you are.....
Nope, I'm going to go sliding down hills on an old car hood and probably go 4-wheeling in the snow. No safe weekends for this little red duck!

Have a good time in NC!

Right outside Winston-Salem. I'm flying into Greensboro.

You said the parental units are on Atlantic Beach, near Florida?
