I had to stand...

with the unwashed sea of humanity yesterday to get my Driver's License renewed...since it had been expired for five days at that point. I've gotten one ticket in the past four years (in IL at least, the one in NC doesn't count here). So I had to retake the written test along with the vision test. At least my eyes have not gotten worse. The written test is now on touch-screen computer and the results are instanly relayed to the folks who take your photo and all. Kinda neat that. I missed one question and got a 97%. I think you got 3 points for signing your name correctly. You know those signing pads they have now for some credit card swipers in stores? That's what they have at the DMV on the test computers now. Only the pad is attached to the countertop so you have to get at a wierd angle to sign properly. It still looked like I was drunk when I signed it. The question I missed was on how far back to apply a turn signal before a turn. I chose the "at Least 50 feet" response which was apparently wrong. It's 100 feet which leads to a bit of confusion when turn lanes have more than one turn on them but hey, I passed so that's all that matters, right. Given that half the people on the road don't know what a turn signal is, I'd think they'd be happy I use my turn signals at all...but that's just me.

So I got the new license. The nice thing is the photo makes me look like I'm about 19. The bad thing is it also looks like I'm jaundiced. Oh well, you can't have it both ways I guess.

Went down to the farm last night and avoided hitting deer at three different places, one of which there is no escape from given the terrain if the deer would have actually gone out in front of me. I guess the offering I made to Deer last week is paying off for me.

My one focus last night was to do a healing ritual for a fiend of mine up north who has fallen on bad times. That went well but she will also be at least one of the foci for the upcoming Saturday meditation. More on that in stonebear later on.

Yes, I hate that DMV signing pad. Mine also looks like I was drunk when I signed it, which is amusing considering the idea that you're supposed to present it as proof of your signature at times. Actually, you'd think I'd be better at it, as I get to practice signing electronic UPS pads just about every day. The joys of being the pseudo-receptionist. Still, I don't like that so many places now have my signature in an electronic file. :P

I agree whole heartedly. I spent an hour among the barely literate and barely lucid yesterday.

You should have smelled them...then you'd know of which I speak.
