Sigh

The server seems to be down on the vampires game I play online. That and LJ are the two small vices I've left myself in my ongoing battle to rid myself of my Internet addiction. And now I can't access one of them. Oh well. I made ribs on the grill last night. I forgot to pick up BBQ sauce so I made my own out of Tropical Terror. Man that was good sauce. I'll have to add that recipe to the cookbook though I didn't use any standard measurements so it will be like "a dash of this and a pinch of that" kind of thing but OK. We also did these mamouth baked potatoes with onion slices and fresh garlic cloves. The onions and garlic carmelized inside the potatoes while they were on the grill. We added some real butter and YUM.

Deb and I watched American Chopper on Discovery for awhile last night. I told Deb I was going to get a bike, "You know I'm going to have to get a bike sometime don't you?" She told me there would have to be certain rules if I was going to get a bike. Probably because she knows I'm a daredevil where motor vehicles are concerned. I don't think she needs t oworry though. I told her she could ride on the bike as long as she always wore cut off shorts and a tight leather halter top. She said for a ride on the back of a nice Harley, she'd do that. So yeah, next time I have $10-20 K to blow, I'll just go right out and buy a Harley. Actually, I have a friend who custom builds bikes. I might get him to put me together a junk yard special and customize it from there. That's how I used to work on my Mustang when I still had it.

I wasn't sleepy when Deb went to bed. I was waiting for the temps to drop off a bit anyway so I could sleep easier though I'm digging all the humidity lately because I can breathe so much easier. 92 degrees and 80% humidity today folks. Man I love midwestern summers. I just realized I proposed to Deb on the solstice. Oh heck, maybe the spirits will forgive me for not doing a proper ritual that night.

So instead of going to bed early, I sat up and worked on the piece of erotica I'm doing. I'm kinda stuck on the story. When I write things for individuals, there usually is not much mundane drama, mostly a set up and then right to the sex which is what most of my requests have been for and I do the sex part well. But I wanted this one to be a whole scenario so you know why the characters are where they are. What's hard about that really is knowing where to start. I'm writing about a situation I'm familiar with so it's hard to know when it's too much detail or not enough. Oh well, I'm sure I'll resolve it and be able to post the story later today.

In other news, I have two book projects now. When it rains it pours. Both of them will be exciting in different ways. We had design kickoff meetings yesterday and got into talking about making changes to the overall look and feel of the books. It's wierd talking about books in terms of their final cost to the customer and knowing if we want to do it a little better, we are talking about a $1.30 increase to the customer. And then taking into consideration that with the 87% markup the college bookstores put on the books we very quickly get into a book that costs some poor college kid nearly $100. Fuck, it's insane what college bookstores charge. One of the perks of working for the largest educational publisher in the world is you have an even chance that whatever books you get assigned fo a semester, your company was the publisher and you can get them for $12.

Deb and I got together with Rob and Gwen Sunday and went over plans for the party. I think Rob and I will take progress over to the fireworks plant with us on Friday when we go to pick up the show for the party this weekend. We've got about 15 pounds of fish and with the two turkeys we plan to deep fry and also some pork chops, we should have enough meat at least. The girls will get together Friday night to make potato salad and deviled eggs and such. I may make a couple pies and maybe a cake or two depending on whterh Rob and I decide to take Nik out to a local bar or not. My folks will still be around Thursday and Friday so Nik will get to meet them and the folks will hopefully get to realize that ALL the people I meet on the internet are NOT psychopaths. Just some of the ones from the East Coast....hehehehehe.

Oh well, back to the daily grind now. Time to get myself a cup of decaf Irish Breakfast tea and settle into work.

Peace,

Wander

Re:
I'd have to learn to ride again. It's been a long time since I've ridden anything but a dirt bike and the kind of bike I want is notoriously heavy. But I love the raw power of a big bike going down the road.

Re:
Sure beautiful. I've missed interacting with you of late. I don't mind at all adding you to the list as I know you will be honest in you critique of what I write. And to be honest, it's always good to hear what women think. It's easy to write erotica for men becuase obviously we are not that complicated in what turns us on. Women are a whole oterh story though. So I'm trying to ease in from the romance angle a little before diving right into the sex.

Re:
OK, we will then. I'm not sure about angst but the first story will at least have some conflict. How's that?

You're going to have to start a food/cooking journal, wander - you have me salivating over here every other day...

i'm not sure if I'm the most appropriate example of the non-psychopathic cross section of the internet community.

I beg to differ!
ALL the people I meet on the internet are NOT psychopaths. Just some of the ones from the East Coast...

*ahem* I am 10, 000 more sane than Nik is. He will agree. Just ask.

Re: I beg to differ!
LOL...

funny you should say that, cuz in Baltimore--I think that's where people start to get weird. I was sitting outside of an anime convention and this big sweaty black guy tried to pick me up on his bicycle. EVEN after I told him I had a boyfriend. He asked me to stand up so he could look at my ass. Thankfully, my ride came just then. He wasn't the only weird one, either.

And no, I didn't take what you said seriously anyway. :::cracks up:::

Nik is being good. We didn't let him go to jail when the cops showed up. He slept latetoday and we are going for a drive in the country and then fishing later on.

It's good that he's being good, although I didn't think he was gonna misbehave.

Let's hope he comes back safely. :o)

Well I'll get him on the train. Beyond that, only fate can tell but I'm sure he'll be fine.
