Alcohol Tobacco Firearms and Explosives

Subtitles: Isn't there supposed to be Come on that sign? or Get your filthy lips off my sack!

Ok this is going to be a long one because it covers almost two weeks I will be kind and provide links to the photos though instead of being hard on your browsers.

I'm still nursing some wounds from the weeknd. My muscles are sore from 8 inch explosive shells going of inches from me and I caught on fire twice. More on that later.

The party the last weekend of June was awesome as usual. But made even more so by the presence of progress who decided to fly out for the blessed event. unlucky for him it took me three hours to get down to th airport in St. louis since there is so much construction and then 3 hours back up to the farm but after that things went smoothly. He and I got along great as he did with Deb who delighted in having someone to share coffee and cigarettes with every morning. I had taken that Friday off and he went with me to the fireworks plant where we spent $400 but got $800-1000 worth of stuff.

That night I took him around to meet most of my friends and he got immersed in redneck culture for awhile. He met my folks and they seemed to get along well. Saturday, we got up early and started getting ready for the party, hauling in deep fryers and sorting fireworks and making more food. The thing finally swung into gear around 3 pm and soon we were all out in the barnyard with our guns recrerating our version of family day at a survivalist camp. And yes the big tall goofy guy in the pink shirt is me.

The furry guy who looks like Rob Zombie is Grampa and the guy next to him is Rob. Robbie the postman is in the mix somewhere as well. We were shooting skeet by the way no matter how much it looks like we were aiming at anti-gun fanatics. Nik and Robbie the Postman had a great time. They both agreed the other one wasa sick bastard and that they loved each other. The party went on. We had about 50-75 people there including kids on and off. Lots of great food. We freind 20 pounds of fish and two whole turkeys. Lots of drinking except among those of us shooting the fireworks that night and lots of fooling around. No nudity this year, though plenty of eye candy. I'll have to work on that for next year. *makes mental list: more nudity - check!*

That night, Rob and I staged an awesome fireworks show and Nik took pics for us as he'd done all day.

Afterward we built a bonfire and we all sat around drinking and telling tall tales. It was a good time and it went until about 3 am. Everyone left and Nik and I sat around looking at the mess and finally said "nah, we'll get it in the morning." and then we went to bed. It wasn't really that big mess though and the next day almost all the guests came back at various times and helped clean up. We had the whole aea spic and span by noon and then we got lazy for awhile that Sunday.

Nik sat around taking some art shots of various things about my house like these bottles. and other things. Then we piled into my old loud farm truck and went for a drive in the country so I could show him the mess the tornado made back in May. That night we watched as a huge T-storm rolled in carrying with it a little funnel cloud on the back. nik took some more pix and then the three of us, Nik, Deb and I sat on the front porch and watched a terrific sunset made possible by all the dust the storm had kicked up. We had a nice night chatting until Deb had to go home since she had work in the morning. Then Nik and I BSed the night away until bed time.

Next day I took him to Springfield to the train station so he could catch a train to St. Louis and a cab from there to the airport. I'm told his trip got a little screwy after that but he did get home safe to find out some sad family news. But he did tell me he had a great time which is good because he is an awesome guy to get to know. I hope he and his gf can come out next year.

To be continued....

You had skeet shooting??!! Damn! I've never got to shoot skeet before. Probably would suck at it but it would be fun.
Nice fireworks pics. Better than the ones I got last year.

We'll see how the job thingy goes. If I have to move back to Greenville, I'll try to make a detour to Illinois.

That would not be the most direct route you could take but you won't hear me complain.

I like the art bottle picture. Too bad it's not bigger, it'd make a good desktop picture.

Wow. Those pictures.... just, wow.

Funny, your "family day" looks a heck of a lot like Pretty Much Any Kit Family Gathering. ;)

Re:
It actually resembles any weekend at my farm especially around hunting seasons. Those were just shotguns mostly. 12 and 20 guage but we play around with most everything. It's nice when you don't have to find a range to shoot. Everyone just comes out to my house and shoots whenever we feel like it.

The skeet shooting was fun though. We had six shooters and were throwing 4 skeet at a time and we started developing rules like the two outside shooters could only take a shot if the 4 inside shooters missed. We went through 6 cases of skeet and seveal boxes of shells.

BUT, what's with the white socks?

my favorite necklace in the whole wide world broke.
It's the clasp.
What should I do? I have no money?

thanks for all the kind words, duder. and thanks for all the praise for my pictures from the others who commented as well.

I had a ton of fun, and I plan on making it out to the next one even if I have to walk out there.
Let me know the dates for next year as early as possible so I can see about finding some REALLY cheap tickets for Aileen and myself.

love ya, bro.

I hope I can come out next year, too. Just don't laugh at me if I can't shoot a skeet, cuz I probably can't! I can probably draw you a picture, though!

Hey, ask Nik, I can't shoot skeet eithere. actuall it's one of those beginers luck sort of things. If you don't worry about it you can usually do it. Nik did it. I hope we do see you out here.

That sunset is amazingly, wonderfully beautiful. Shame we only have 365 of them in a year.
