Flowers

After the Sunday spent at the hospital I spent Monday with Insurance folks and then too some photos of the crash site. I had some shots left so I took some of my favorite flowers, my day lillies. I planted this one plant three years ago and this year it is waist high and has over 3 dozen blooms on it. I got close enough on the first one to see the individual water droplets and bits of pollen inside the flower. The second one, I could see a bit of something inside that turned out to be a neat little spider.

I guess the location of the crash was fortunate for a lot of folks. as it was, Evin just killed a bucnh of hollyhocks which I had too many of anyway. Bunch of little guys would have lost their homes if he would have crashed 6 feet to the left.

Peace,

Wander

Beautiful flower. Is that a specific type of red daylily or is it just a regular kind? I've only had the orange kind before and I'm getting kind of tired of it.

Why yes, I am planning a garden extravaganza for my new backyard.

Post lots of pictures.

I love flag iris myself. And siberian iris.

I have a bunch of Siberian Iris that just came up on it's own. I have no idea how it got there but I'm not complaining.

My dad has a lot of iris in one of his gardens. One of my favorite parts of spring, along with the lilacs and the crab apple blossoms.

The Pink House has two cherry trees in back and a mimosa tree. I'll have to take pictures of the mimosa if I can before the flowers fall off. They smell magnificent.

But they smell so good. I'm going to try pressing some of the flowers to see if that will help keep the scent. I might put them in my drawers or in a potpourri bag in the closet.

Hm, so this is what they mean about cleaning out old message replies...

Anyway, wander says we have them here but I can't say I've ever seen one. I'll take your word for it that they smell good.

That was so strange. I've gotten 4 of those today. Never saw them the first time around either.

Yeah I've gotten a bunch too. I wasn't too weirded out because of the message on status.livejournal.com though.

We have them down here too. They are pretty and smell good but they are considered a nuisance plant because they quickly get out of control.

*looks up irises*

Ooooo, pretty. This is the iris I'm more familiar with (we used to have a bunch of them surrounding a black walnut tree at the Old House), but that Siberian variety...*notes to self*

Yeah flag iris...they come in a lot of varieties and tend to have a scent. Dutch iris are nice too. Siberians are really pretty though because they're so delicate. They don't have much scent, just so you know. Iris have to be my one of my most favorite flowers.

I hate to say I don't know. It was this little stubby thing I bought from the greenhouse and chunked it in the ground and it just happened to grow like that.

Ah. Random Plant. That's the best kind. I come from a home where Random Plants are encouraged and welcomed.
