Questions from twistedcat

1. how did shamanism find you?

Basically it smacked me upside the head. My ex-wife had multiple personalities. One night they all came out like mouskateer role call. The main personality basically told me either I was going to be in the relationship for the long haul and help in her healing or I could get the hell out right now. So like a moron, I stayed. It was during this time that guides started to reveal themselves and talk to me. I'd been meditating for years but all of a sudden I was having visions and becoming in tune with the energy of Spirit. Anyway, that was about 20 years ago and it's only gotten stronger and stronger as time has gone on.

2. how did you meet deb?

In 1996, I had this girlfriend living in Washington, DC while I was living here in Illinois. We hardly ever saw each other but talked a lot on the phone and net. Deb's cousin, Gwen who I'm good friends with had met the DC chick and not really liked her so she decided without asking me, that I needed a new gf. So she invites me to help her and her family do a fireworks show on July 4th. (my first one). She was still keeping me in the dark about her plans. She told Deb she had someone she wanted her to meet, not telling her I had a gf. Anyway we met and hit it off as friends. The friends part lasted about a week before we were more intimately involved. Then there was the problem of the long distance gf. I was looking for a way of breaking up without hurting her but she took care of that when she dumped me in an email one night. From then on Deb and I were together. We consider July 4 our anniversary though and always do something special for each other that night.

3. what is your favorite time of day?

Late evening. I often go out into the barnyard and listen to the coyotes howl and just sit looking at the moon. It's my best time for meditating, vision work or healing work as well. I just feel more in tune with everything then.

4. you can spend 24 hours of one-on-one time with any historical figure, living or dead. who and why?

You mean I can't choose you right? OK, the Shawnee Chief Tecumseh. Because he had grown up with the old way and was faced with the decision of accepting the new ways, which he knew would spell the end of his people's way of life, or fighting the American Armies with the hope of allowing his people to continue their traditional ways. I'd like to talk to him about how it felt to be poised on the brink of history like that. About what his visions for his people were. It might also provide a link to my Native past as we suspect my one missing link in my family tree was a Shawnee from Ohio.

5. what's the best place you ever lived?

That's a toughie because so many places hold something for me. I think it would have to be the village of Miami, NM though. That's where I got my calling as a Shaman and it's where I can remember being most at peace just being me.
