What fun

"Bells on bobtails ring. making spirits bright, What fun it is to blow a rear tire on the side of the road in Illinois in the middle of freakin winter and ahve to change it when your flashlight is running out of juice and your on you way to the repair shop anyway!"

Story of my life lately. Invisibella, I swear I have contrary Pisces energy. The universe seems intent on seeing how close it can drive me to the brink of financial ruin. And this month was supposed to be so lucky for Pisces.

I decided to take the ailing car over to Rushville last night so Rob could take a look at it this morning. Blew the tire while I was passing a semi. He didn't stop to help me incidentally. Someone did end up stopping but only when I was almost done. That's the problem with travelling the backroads sometimes. I got it fixed and back on the road in about 10 minutes. Glad it wasn't longer as the temps had dropped into the teens. Did manage to get grease on a good pair of chinos I use for work at the office. Wonderful! I got the car to the farm and got ready to do the quick turn-around back to Peoria. But I needed to wait until Rob and Gwen got home so one of them could follow me up to the repair shop and bring me back to the house so I could take the truck. I got down to the farm around 9 and it was 11:15 before they gave me a call. And when Gwen finally called she told me Rob said to just leave the car at the farm and he'd come and get it. Really, I think someone could have called me and told me that earlier so I didn't have to leave so late.

I left the farm by midnight with the old, gas guzzling pig of a farm truck which at least has a decent heater and made Peoria by 1:30 and home by 1:40. I was in bed by 2 am and up at 6:30. I feel fine right now but I'll hit a wall around 3 or so I'm sure. On the way home, I came barreling up over a hill and almost hit three deer. The only thing that saved me was when I took my foot off the accelerator, the truck backfired and scared the deer into running. They were nice fat deer so even though the winter has been hard so far, they must still be finding food allright.

I just heard from Rob that he looked at my car and it is the CV Joint. Of course, it would have to be the most expensive part to replace. Oh well, I guess it could be worse. It's only $135 for the part and I'll do the work myself this weeknd. I'll just have to clear out the garage a bit so I can get the car in. Then I'll get to lay on my back on the nice cold concrete for a few hours and change the whole drive axle. Fun fun. Hopefully this will get me through until Spring when I can get a new car or afford to do massive work on this one. Now I really wish I hadn't hit the cow wit hthe otehr truck. It would have been nice to drive about now.

In other news, I didn't win the lottery again. But once again, niether did anyone else. So it's up to $59 million for Friday night. So that means everyone's share in the winnings is going up. Anyone wants to suggest numbers to play, I'll happily play them.

Onm a lighter note, someone added me to their friends list on LJ and I've added them to mine. If you're in the habbit of reading my friends journals, you will now notice one from Treeshaman who happens to share an interest in shamanic healing. Welcome aboard.

Well we've got corporate execs in the office this week so I'll have to be on good behavior and actually get some work done.

Gods, I hope I get well again soon... so I can send you some better luck! The car thing seems to be particularly mean at this point... glad you're okay, though!

Yeah, I'll get through it. The car goes in cycles of nickle and diming me to death. After this it will either die completely or drive fine until next fall like it did last year. I'm hoping to have a new-used car by then though. Thanks for the thoughts though.
