Ice Ice Baby

It's an interesting day here at work. Mostly because no work is really getting done. We woke this morning to an ice storm, the worst of the so called "Winter Mix" because there is really no good way to get around in it. Work was not closed unlike many of the schools and businesses around here and I'll be damned if I'm giving up a vacation day just because of a little ice. Well it's more than a little ice now. It's downright treacherous outside. Going home will be fun. Of our 50 + employees, only 18 of us actually came in to work. 18 hard headed idiots. No one wanted to leave for lunch so we ordered Italian from Avantis. We are watching emergency vehicles slip and slide over the road outside. I'm definitely not staying until 5:30 and drive home in the dark over icy roads. But because I'm not really doing any work, I decided to use my new digital camera and give everyone a tour of my office. All Images hosted by Image Shack.

I always tip very well having been a waiter and a delivery guy more times that I care to think about. But yeah, he was well compensated. I'm surprised some restaurants just didn't cancel delivery service yesterday.

Re: Picture??
Yup, that's her. I'll put up the original sometime. We took that in Sedona when we were out there a few years back.

Only if you send the 70 degrees here. The forecast for the next week does not put us above 35 on any given day. Hard for the ice to melt like that.

I've tried to make this place homey since I spend what amounts to half my life here. Some people in our building have very spartan offices and I just don't see how they cane work like that. Lots of times people come into my office and sit on top of file cabinet since it's got that rug on it. It's comforatble to sit there and lean against the wall. If I have my door closed, people from the outside can't see the person sitting on the file cabinet and they can hide out for awhile.

Ah, so the door opens to the right.

I was going to comment on that rug earlier, but I do like it. It's given me an idea for my own office. I'm like you - I think that if I'm going to spend 40 hours/wk here, I've gotta like what I see.

Exactly what I don't like about it seeing as I wear leather soles on my shoes.

Pretty framed feathers. I have never seen that before. What kind of feathers are they? Do they have a story?

I just like feathers. I collect them all the time. Owl is one of my personal totems so It kinda just goes hand in hand. The three in the frame are from a Red Tailed Hawk, A Barbed Owl and a Great Horned Owl. Those were given to me by a co-worker who'se friend works in the wild bird aviary of Wild Life Prairie Park near Peoria, IL where I work. The single one is from a Steppe Eagle from Russia. I Pagan friend of mine gifted that to me a couple years ago.

Great Blue Heron is one of my Totems. I had a feather once, but lost it over the years.
Should have framed it!

This lady in NC did the framing for me. She left space for the feathers to "breathe" so if you jiggle the frame the little fluffies at the bottom will move.

Heron has some really good medicine. You are lucky.
