Typical

My right foot is killing me. It's because I drop kicked a cabbage this morning. Whenver we have bad produce, ie tomatoes that have gone too long, rotten pumpkins, etc., we throw them out on the highway and watch cars run them over. I gave Deb some tomatoes to chunk this morning. I had a large cabbage from Robbies garden. I peeled it pretty far down but try as I might to find the good cabbage, most of it was wormy. So I was trying to punt it over the top of the elm tree and onto the highway. Problem was, even peeled down some, the damned thing still weighed 5 pounds or so. felt like drop kicking a five pound rock, had about the same effect anyway. I cleared the elm tree but only made the front ditch and now I've got a hurt foot. Feels like pulled muscles on both the instep and the ankle, guess I won't be doing that again soon. The tomatoes and squash were fun to see get run over though. It's like the automotive equivalent of a Vegimatic.

We were kind of lazy at the farm this weekend though I did at least mow the yard and weed the garden. I lost all my radishes, cucumbers and squash to the heat. Lots of good tomatoes, peppers and pumpkins though. We've got some multicolored sunflowers too. Those are cool.

Two of my best friends in Rushville are having a fued and it's getting tiresome. What the fued is about is not that important. I mean it is to them but to the rest of us it just means we end up having two distinct sets of friends and anyone who has had a pair of friends who get a divorce, knows how fun this situation can be. Both of them are too hard headed to go talk to the other one about it and get it worked out. worst part is they live on the same street. So if you go visit one, you get the feeling the other one is watching. And though at this point neither one is saying anything if you hang out with the other one, I've no doubt it may get to that. I've talked to both and it's amazing how similar both stories are up to a point. But I refuse to get in the middle of it all. If I have to have separate friends then I have to have separate friends.

A freind from New mexico called my Sunday. She was the one who organized the art show that I did while I was out there last week. Her and another girl bought about $175 worth of jewelry from me. Seems they went down to Santa Fe wednesday to treat themselves to a massage and while therre, their car was broken into and ransacked. all the jewelry one of the girls bought from me was stolen. Kind of ironic that Santa Fe thieves would steal non-Southwestern jewelry. I guess I should be happy they thought my stuff was worthy of stealing though. In any event, the girl that called me is an artist as well and wanted to know if I'd make replacement jewelry in exchange for a giclee print of one of her paintings. I told her to keep the painting and that I'd replace the jewelry at no cost to her. Unfortunately three of the pieces stolen were made of Connemara marble and as I only know of one source and I'm just about out of a certain size, I may be in trouble with that promise. But I'll muddle through. I know how shitty a feeling it is to get ripped off.

Ok, off to nurse my foot some and take Jake the Dog for a walk.

Peace,

Wander

I toss my rotten veggies/fruit over the fence into the woods behind the house. I told the squirrels and bunnies they could have what went over the fence, but not what was behind the cat litter barrier. I guess I need to refresh the barrier because something got into the jalapeños and bit the bottoms off of them.

Whatever creature eats a jalapeno deserves what it gets.

Actually I've seen rabbits eat habaneros. The only thing I can figure is they must have something different in the chemical makeup of their saliva that neutralizes the capsaicin. Because I saw a dog eat a habanero once and go yelping away in pain for several minutes.

It's not the jalapenos you have to worry about. They are pretty mild in the grand sceme of things. It's those pesky, yummy habaneros.

I drop kicked a cabbage this morning

I have to admit that is a phrase I never thought to see.

Hope you and your foot are doing better soon. *hugs*

Feels better this morning after keeping weight off it all last night. Just needed a little rest I guess.

I think I'm out of Connemara Marble, but I'll have a look around at home.

I've got enough of the big 8mm ones to make another necklace but almost none of the 6mm ones. You think there will be any for sale at the Celtic show in Chicago? I think I'm going to check that out as well since I do have an Illinois Business license. I should be able to get in. Do I need to buy a ticket for it? I've not been able to find a US source for Connemara marble beads so far. Don't mind buying from overseas, just need a source.

I'm glad my misery is a source of humor for so many. I think I'll consider this my 2005 entry to the Gimp Olympics. I think you missed the year when I was trying to take a photo for my LJ icon and the stump I was standing on broke apart and I rolled ass end over tea kettle into a ravine and caught it all on film.

Jake is still in good spirits and I think the new diet suggested by a few here has helped. Lots more veggies, purified water and vitamins and energy work. His hind end is getting a little stiff on him but he still wants to go out and play so we are taking it day by day.
