I'm going out on a limb here

Beaufort Bay, the new wine by Duplin Cellars (Duplin County NC) is the best white wine they have ever produced. In fact it even beats Scuppernong Blush, Midnight Magnolia and all their sweet reds hands down. I met the Winery owner the other day and I told him so. He said he knew it was because it cost him his yearly bonus for the next three years in a bet he lost to his brother who bought the land for the new vineyard. I've drank 2 bottle of it this week alone. I'll be a happy wino soon.

We finished our last bottle last night. The first bottle we got came as part of our 4th Quarter wines of the month shipment from Duplin. That was gone in about 5 minutes. I got 4 more bottles when I was down there last week. We are ordering a case next week.

So...what kind of grapes would they be?
Don't think there are any white muscadines.
Our "Sweet Shiloh" will be ready in a month or 2!

Next case I get I'll send you a bottle if you like. I can't wait to taste the Shiloh. I just need to pick a weekend and drive over and see everything.

It looks like the wine will be ready in March. Though that is still just a guess.
Winery officially opens in May. But,let me know if you want to come by earlier, I'm sure it can be arranged.
Especially if you want to lend a hand building the tasting room.

That sounds like fun. I'd like to come next year and help pick grapes.

I'll let you know when they are ripe!
It's usually around labor day.

Sounds about right. We are going to pick at Duplin around September 22.

That sounds good. Even if it's not picking time, it'll still be a nice time to stop by.

We used to have outdoor sales on Labor Day but it's been too darned hot the last few years so a short vacation would be nice.

And, by then you will have tasted some of the wine, so you'll want to see where it is made!

I guess you don't have many local wineries up there.
But, I'll bet there are some good wine warehouses.

No Illinois has over a dozen wineries. The Piasa winery makes a wonderful Reisling.

To me a dozen is not many. As of this past year Virginia has 97 wineries and several hundered vineyards. You can't drive anywhere without passing one these days.
We grow some nice reisling here too.
But, then you will find out soon enough.

There are lots of smaller wineries but not so many that offer tours and tastings.
