Contrary to popular belief

Everyone in Illinois was not injured by tornadoes last night. Just some people in and around Springfield. And since it's the state capital, that's probably why it got more coverage than the places affected in Missouri which had more deaths from the tornadoes. I was up most of the night because our power kept going out with the extremly close lightning strikes. In fact, a tree in my side yard got struck and then the wind blew it over on the house. So guess who was out riding herd on a chainsaw at sunrise before going to work. Other than the power being out so it was hard to tell if a tornado was coming, it was really cool to sit on the front porch and watch the storms roll in from the west across the prairie. That lightning crash did send me scurrying inside for a bit though.

I went to a gem show Sunday and got some nice stones and a few gifts for people. Spent much of the weekend cleaning the house so if my uncle passes away while I'm gone to Seattle next week, people coming to the funeral will have a clean place to stay. I didn't get finished. I'll have to go back down tomorrow and get the dishes done.

Other than that, I finished some block prints so I can collect the money for that this week. I mailed them today.

T-minus 5 days before I leave at 6 am to head to Seattle. I'll have to be there at 4:30 am. You think that's bad? My return flight leaves at midnight and gets in 15 minutes before I have to be at work. How fun will that be?

In Illinois it has a whole lot to do with geography. There is a "weather line" over by Lewistown and things north of there tend to get hit bad but South gets it relatively mild. The storms have a tendency to move up the river valleys west to east. But yeah I see you area get missed all the time.
