I'm still here because my G5 had a major systems crash. I can't print. I can't get on our network. It all started with installing Adobe CS2 Premium. It worked fine last night but then this morning InDesign kept quitting on me. Then PhotoShop. So I reasoned I just needed to reintstall. Followed the Uninstal instructions from adobe and so I now have no adobe software on my computer nad guess what. Now it won't let me reinstall anything. I started up from the systems disk and ran Disk Utility. It didn't find anything wrong. Ran Onyx and nothing changed. Now I'm running Tech Tool Pro and Disk Warrior which go really in depth, checking the volumes and file structures and all that. I'll repair as neccessary. If that changes nothing it will be a complete system reinstall on Tuesday. Not looking forward to that. But I'm leaving soon to spend a weekend drinking lots of wine.

Peace everyone!

Bad thing is we are not in down time right now. I have two projects do next week that are illustration intense and me and anothr employee have to put togetehr a program by next Friday to demonstrate our multimedia capabilities. Worst comes to worst I guess I'll remove the hard drive and have my boss buy a new one and I'll but this one in a shell and get the info off it. Really would rather not do that. But I fifnished running all the disk repair stuff yesterday and nothing improved so maybe with a fresh perspective on Tuesday I'll be able to figure something out.

Ouch. On a MAC! That doesn't sound happy at all. At least a PC is easier to start from scratch, I can't imagine what it's like for a Mac. I wish you all the best with it, hope all goes smoothly.

Yeah and I've got gigabytes of digital photos and past work projects stored on it or I'd just wipe it and reinstall the system. If I have to I'll just have my boss order a new hard drive and put a brand new system on it and then put this one in a shell to retrieve my files. Tuesday, I'm going to try and burn all my critical stuff to DVD and take it off the drive and then I'll put a new updated OS on it and see how it goes. Perhaps when I uninstalled CS 1 I inadvertantly deleted some critical little piece of something. I have no idea at this point.

Did you try repairing permissons with disk utility?

That was the first thing I did. Disk Utility didn't find anything which is why I went to Tech Tool and Disk Warroior. Tech Tool found some bad file names and a few bad permissions and fixed them but still no dice. I'll run disk warrior again on Tuesday and see what happens. If nothing changes, I'll start burning all my critical files to DVD, wipe the system and start over I guess. When I think of the 100 gigs of info I have to transfer, I'm not looking forward to it.

yuck

You might can try an Archive and Install first. Save you the headache of all that reconfigging.

Btw, which version of InDesign? I don't think Adobe ever perfected that one.

CS2 I had CS1 installed and have been using it for a couple years and it worked just fine.
