I have 4 fireworks shows to do over the next 5 days. This will be a fun 4 day weekend. Deb is down helping her cousin Gwen in Rushville so I'm a bachelor for a couple days. Mt. Sterling on Saturday. Vermont on Monday. And Astoria and Rushville on Tuesday. Then the big party next weekend. I won't be in any frame of mind to come back and work on Wednesday.

My Dad got pulled over on suspicion of drunk driving the other night. He was in my truck just outside Augusta. It was starting to rain and instead of pulling over, he leaned across the passenger seat to roll up that window. And promptly drove off the road...right in front of the Sheriff's Deputy. I'm pretty sure dad has never gotten a ticket and he prides himself on not getting pulled over. To top it off he couldn't find my insurace card in the glove box. So he calls Mom who calls me and then I call him back. Of course i'm 2 hours away in Peoria at the time. He bitched at me for not keeping the insurance papers in the glove box. I swore they were in there. We almost got into a fight about it but I finally said, "OK Dad, I fucked up. What would you like me to do about it? Is there some way I can help?" He gives me a snort and hangs up. He ended up getting a warning because the cop was able to check to see my insurance was current.

So when I get there last night he's telling me that he got the electronic copy of the insurance I sent him and put it in the truck. I promptly go out and rifle through the glove box and find the insurance card that I'd put in there months ago. I brought it back in along with the new copy and show it to him. Doh! Do you think I got an appology? Nope I just got an "well I couldn't find it. You might consider putting it in the insurance form binder in the glove box." OK dad.

In other news, I've grown a moustache. 2nd time in my life. Deb hates it. But then again I hate her short hair, so we are even. I tried growing a beard but it doesn't grow in even on the sides so it was going to be a goatee. But then it came in white. No not grey, white. And I didn't like the Colonel Sanders look so I shaved it and just kept the moustache. Which is coming in red pepper and salt. I probably won't keep it long as it bugs me but it's there for now.

I love summer.

As you get older though it's not as irritating as it once was getting carded. I usually say thanks.

I'm rapidly approaching 40. The waitresses that demand my ID I find largely inconsequential, as I do know what that's about. But the gay waiter at my favourite restauarant who once politely and apologetically requested proof of age, then proclaimed "well, you're rather well preserved!" and who has since ostentatiously demanded my ID on every occasion... He gets a pretty damned good tip. As well as a lot of conversation. (Why not? He's just fun to be around.)

Yeah compliments go a long way toward good tips.

Compliments reduce tips. Honest laughter yields a good tip.

I demand a picture. It's hard to imagine you with a moustache.

Have fun blowing stuff up!
