Catching up

I got three more pieces

done over the weekend. I need three more necklaces tonight and ten bracelets and then I can send all this stuff off to the NM gallery. Then anything I can get done by Sunday, I'll just take along with me and give to them.

I spent all day Saturday and Sunday helping my Dad put some of the .

Tuesday we had a meeting of his 50th High School reunion committee there. We were able to finish up quite a few of the details such as tearing off all the old pieces of batten and cutting off the bad spots and replacing them with new batten. Plus we got all the new windows in and curtains on them from the inside. We got flower boxes made and painted and then put under each of the windows. We got lanterns up on all the light holders for light. Plus we got the bathroom finished. All we have to do is conect the pipes to the sewage holding tank. Ever seen a barn with a flush toilet and running water? This will now become a permanent facility for big meetings and reunions. Sunday unfortunately, I had to replace the muffler on my Jetta. I was hoping not to have any major repairs until I got back from NM. I'll be heading that way on Sunday.

Your jewelry is gorgeous as usual. I'm still away, but got access to a computer for a moment. Thought I'd check up and see if you were behaving yourself :)

I am for now but won't be as of Sunday when I leave for parts west.

I love the warm light in the first barn photo, and the way that the pinky-red design elements inside it radiate the same glow. Very inviting space.

Check your post just before that barn photo, though - some code needs fixin'.

Yeah I see that unfortunately, I can't access it from the web from work and the program I use to post with won't let me edit after I have posted. Crap. It just said "finishing touches on the barn" or something like that. I really like the barn. I'm going to start holding reunions and parties there myself.
Maybe an Illinois LJ reunion.

That first jewelry piece is absolutely gorgeous. Wish I could do that.

You can. Beleive me, if I can teach myself to do it, anyone can learn to do it. Just takes time and materials. I have done as many as 20 pieces in one day but I usually can do one in 20 - 45 minutes.

More beautiful jewelry. You've made quite a bit lately.

I like the red curtains against the color of the indoor barn wood. The bathroom was quite unexpected. I like the post with the old lanterns; I have several of my own.

So you are leaving Sunday for NM? Will you be posting throughout your trip? (I don't know if you have a laptop). It will be nice to see your photos whenever you have an opportunity to post them.

I shot a few photos today too away from all this damage. I hope this roll of film turns out good.

I'll be anxious to see your photos. And no, I won't be posting through my trip. You will find I'm not a huge fan of technology. In spite of my job and my posts to LJ, I'm really quite a low tech person. When I tgo a wandering, it's a vacation from all the modern trappings of everyday life. I sleep in my car or camp out. I have a cell phone but it's only for extreme emergencies and it's usually turned off. If I need to check in with home, I'll find a pay phone. I don't watch TV and I stay as far as I can away from computers.

The barn is being redecorated in my dad's high school class colors. The Unity Mustangs colors are Maroon and White, so consequently, the barn is taking on those colors. But you are right, I think they work well. Glad he didn't go to HS in the town where my farm is. Rushville's colors are purple and gold. eeek!

I hope my photos turn out well as I get back in the loop. I've met new people in the various photo communities and have new lj friends including you. Two others are in Russia.

Time is close for your trip. I know you will be glad to get away. I hope you aren't miserable in the heat and humidity. Where I am it's supposed to be 98 - 100 tomorrow with high humidity and dewpoints.

I live for Illinois summers. I love the heat and humidity. But where I'm going the days will be in the mid 80's and nights will be almost wintery, often dropping into the mid 40's. Northern NM is a wonderful place to live or visit.

I really love seeing your jewellery work. :D

I did 4 more pieces last night so I'll get those up today. Deb accused me last week of being too traditional and not "thinking outside the box" so I'm trying to be a little more creative with these designs.
