About last night

I helped Dad around the farm yesterday. Last minute, end of the season cleanup and maintenance we always do before they leave forthe last time of the year. As much as I love my folks, they've pretty much monoploized my whole summer. They've been out here 6 times this year. But now with Dad's reunion over, they have no reason to stay longer or come back again. Now they can go back to the beach and deal with the end of hurricane season. And I can finish up last minute weekend projects while it is still a bit warm and in between weeks of looking for a new job. Should be a fun Autumn. Dad and I replaced the carburetor on the old Ford Tractor yesterday. Runs much better now. Then Dad and Mom took off to go to here 50th Reunion. (They graduated the same year from high schools 20 miles apart and never knew each other).

I got the tractor running and did some mowing then got the riding mower going and did the front and side yards. I pulled all the tomato stakes and mowed down the garden. About dark, Gwen called and said, "Hey, I heard about the job thing. I've been in and out of the hospital all week. Wanna go get drunk?"

I said that was the best offer I'd had all week. So after a shower and washing my "going up to the redneck bar" clothes, I headed into town to meet all the others at Chasers Tap. There was a band playing. Gwen and Rob were there along with her cousin Carol who is the wife of the drummer of the band. Kenny and Lori were there and two guys down from Wisconsin to hunt Kenny's farm. They were both pretty fun. Everyone was trading off buying rounds. The music was good. Lots of women there to dance with. Most of us are in the same age range. And it's always funny to watch a bunch of intoxicated white people with no rhythm try to dance 80's style to more modern music. It's like no one paid attention to any style of dancing past the time they were in high school or college.

I danced with Gwen a good bit and Carol some as well. Both were smelling really good, and looking pretty good too. Then my post mistress came up from behind, grabbed me in a big hug, spun me around and gave me a big wet sloppy kiss. Guess the rumors might be true that she has a thing for me. Luckily, I don't find myself at the bar much when she is there and the only time I see her is when she puts mail in my box at the farm every otehr weekend or so.

I had to guard both Gwen and Carol from the odd drunken asshole a couple times. One of them now believes Carol and I have been married for the past 11 years. Oh well, whatever works. She thanked me profusely later for thinking so quickly. All in all a great night. We closed the place down and then everyone went home. Surprisingly I wasn't even hung over this morning.

I met Mom and Dad at the other farm around Noon and helped Dad get some work done in the barn. About 2, we took off for Fountain Green where there was an old cemetery Mom wanted to explore. It is the burial place of several of Abraham Lincoln's relatives and of Mom's relatives who happen to be related to Abe's relations. So yes, that makes me a cousin several times removed of Abe Lincoln. Pretty cool eh? It was a pretty neat place. Though it took us awhile to get there as it's back in the woods, down a long field lane through someone's soybean field. Afterward we headed into my hometown of Carthage where I treated the folks to dinner at Dairy Queen. Mmmmmmm Banana Creme Pie Blizzard! Then it was back to our farm to do some outside cleanup and the rest of the night has been spent helping them get packed so we can all leave on our various journey's in the morning.

So tomorrow sometime I will finally get to my illustrated vacation post.

It's been a hell of a week. Oh and jellyfish, the Reisling is all gone. I'll have to order some more from you. That's some damned good grape!

It was a nice way to get my mind off things. At least some things are staying normal.

No pix from Saturday night because though I might kiss and tell, I don't kiss and show. But vacation pix are being edited right now.

Glad the wine is gone and you enjoyed it. I'll get a shipper from my sister for when you want more. The "Solstice" label just got approved day before yesterday.
It didn't take long to drink that wine. Though I beleive you had some mead recently that you didn't keep for more than a few hours.

I drank the first bottle the night I got home. Well I had some help. The second bottle I shared with my boss when we found out the office was due to close.
