Father's day

On Father's day, my dad fell out of the attic when he missed a step on the ladder. Luckily I was there to break his fall. But I think the fall may have shaken something loose because for the rest of the day, we clicked, we bonded, whatever you want to call it, it worked. On our way back from dropping the farm truck to have the transmission tweaked in Quincy, he took me for a tour of the village of Fowler, IL and reminisced of his boyhood, the happy parts anyway. He showed me his old house and the barn they used to throw softballs onto the roof of to practice their control. He gave me a tour of his neighborhood and told me about the old house covered with brambles where lived this really nice old lady who happened to be an "albino negro". Every town has to have it's oddities. What struck me most odd was that a single "black" lady would settle in an all white (except for her) town in the midwest in the 40's and 50's, much less an albino black lady, no matter how nice she was.

After Fowler, we talked all he way back home about family and friends and tried to decide what was best for the farm.

What a special day. On Father's Day, dad gave me a gift.

Surprised the heck out of me. Now if my Mom would just fall out of an attic on mother's day.

I'm glad your father didn't take a hard fall. That was scary.

It was hard enough. He cut up his arms pretty badly and had a huge goose egg on his arm but ti could have been worse had he not had a son to break his fall.

I baked my dad banana bread from a box mix. He liked it so much, he actually said something about it.

Great to hear your bonding episode. :)

They are back on your coast now, after a 1 day stopover to inspect Camp Powhatan.

I'll tell them though.
