Getting ready for my trip

I've abandoned the idea of taking my car on the trip. It needs to have the rear struts replaced. I could do that myself this weekend if the weather was nice. But it really needs to have the timing belt replaced. I've gone about 7,000 miles on the new engine since July. The belt looks fine but a new belt costs $30 and the labor to put it in is less than $75 and I can spend $105 a lot of times before I hit the $1500 it costs for a new engine and labor to replace it. My normal mechanic isn't familiar enough with VW engines to do it and the one I could take it to in Peoria won't have time before I leave. So I'm just going to break down and rent a car. I'll pick it up on the 14th after work and leave from Joliet then. I'll get to Manassas, Va sometime on the 15th. Here is the route I'll be taking.

If you live along that route and would like a brief visit, let me know. For those of you in VA and NC, I'll be there a little over a week and plan to be in both states at some point. I have to go see Dorothy Whitehawk in NC. A gift I have for her is why I won't be taking a much faster flight to get to the East Coast. I'll be making Manassas, home base but I'll also be going to Basye, Va to visit my parents who will be staying at a resort up there.

Peace,

Wander

Sometime after next weekend probably. Thanksgiving week that is. My friend Dorothy is in Lenoir. Where I go from there will depend on who is around to get together with. I know I'll be in Lexington as well.

I'll be in Rutherfordton NC on 11/24 giving massages at The Whole You. I have to get some clinic hours in on my massage school certification. According to Yahoo maps the two towns (Lenoir and Rutherfordton) are about an hour distance from each other. Lexington is a little further down the road (about 3 hours).

I'd love to hook up if schedules permit. Let me know what might work for you!

It may not this time. But I go out there a couple times a year so it won't be too long until I'm out there again. My folks live in Morehead City, NC and I go out the to see them at Xmas usually. This year for some odd reason we are all going to AZ for Xmas instead but I'm sure I'll be back come springtime. I'd imagine I'll be in Lenoir on the 18th or 19th.

Figured I'd ask. I'll be in Asheville that weekend too (the 18th). I'm told the colors are great up there now. Hopefully they won't drop before you get here. Safe journey!

Re: Cranberry Mead
I'm always pleasantly surprised. On the 15th, look for me in the evening. My psychic friend up above Warrenton is leaving the next day for a vacation so I think I'll go straight to her place first. But I'll be at your place sometime on the 15th.

Re: Cranberry Mead
Will be looking for you on the 15th. I am actually out early that day from a job fair, if it's cold I'll start a fire and there is a receipe for Brandied apples that I wanted to try. N is out early on the 21st from school for Fall Break and we are headed to Mom's for Thanksgiving. You are more than welcome to come, older sis, younger sis and the crew are all going to be there. Always room for one more. It's gonna be ROWDY! I think both E and I have the 23rd off. We have theatre tickets on the 24th for Tamburlaine. Let me know if you want to go and I will pick up an extra ticket. Mom will be at the house babysitting for us that day.

Info on the play -Avery Brooks is starring
Christopher Marlowe’s first play, Tamburlaine chronicles its hero’s meteoric rise from humble origins to fearsome warrior and emperor of thousands. Tamburlaine desolates his adversaries, growing so ruthless that he marches on his beloved’s native country. With ravishing poetry, Marlowe ruminates on the corrupting influence of ambition and one man’s overwhelming desire for immortality. Tamburlaine exemplifies Marlowe’s extravagant style, immense sense of pageantry and bold characters. Michael Kahn directs, calling up “the combination of stylization and raw force that has brought his productions of classics to towering life” (The Washington Post). Avery Brooks returns to play the title role after his acclaimed portrayals of Othello and Oedipus. Franchelle Stewart Dorn returns for the first time since 2000 to play the Empress of Turkey.

Re: Cranberry Mead
I think I'll actually be heading home on the 23rd unless I decide to pay for an extra day on the car rental. So you guys have fun with that. The folks are going to be at a resort up in Basye, Va starting on the 18th so I'll probably spend a day with them. I need to get down to NC for one day and I've got a few friends all over VA I need to make day trips to see. But I should be able to spend a few days with you guys.

Re: Cranberry Mead
I think I still do because there is a key on my ring that I can't figure out what it goes too and it looks like a copied house key.

As far as I know
As of today, I'll be in town the week after the giving of thanks. No purple room or green couch, but I'd love for you to take the time for a visit with me!

I'm just around from the 15th through the 23rd. I'd love to see you but if it's the week after that, I'll be gone again.
