Ready to get pricked by a pro

I finally found someone to do what will likely be my one and only tattoo. I found her bouncing around MySpace last week and wrote to her to tell her what I was looking for.

Her name is Mendi.

Sometime back I posted the design I did for my tattoo

There was a local guy who does really good work but he's a racist and as this part of my spiritual journey, I didn't want his mojo hanging with me. Mendi is part Lakota and part Cherokee and very in touch with her spirituality and respectful of the beliefs of others. I get a good vibe from her. She looked at the design and really wants to do it for me. she said she's charge $600 normally but because of the nature of the work she'd knock it down to $450 which I think is very fair.

I told her I'd rather wait until I lost 70 pounds to get it done so the circle doesn't become an oval and she's cool with that. I'm supposed to go down to Springfield soon and talk to her more about it.

I'm excited.

are you getting it in color?

Yes. Black and white would not suit me.

I'm getting it on my right shoulder in the back. Bear really represents me as my Shawnee name translates to StoneBear. That design takes in me, my totems and elements of my spiritual path. Coyote and Owl are my guides. My owl is actually female. Many of those animals came from the Animal Medicine cards designs and some PhotoShop work. Mendi really liked them.

I think she said it would take multiple sittings.

And how many will be determined by your respective staminas. I hope you've got a high pain tolerance. :)

Looks lovely though! I keep toying with the idea of getting a tattoo, but haven't yet seen anything I'd want on me for keeps.

That's a beautiful design! I'd love to get more ink but I'm not sure what I'd want to get or where I'd want to put it. I do know I'd love to liven up the dolphin around my hip bone with a treasure chest and some other sea animals like an octopus, starfish, etc, but other than that I'm not sure.
I'm glad you found a worthy artist to use your body as a canvas.
