February in Northern California

In February, work sent me to San Francisco to meet my counterparts in our office there and also meet with the person who formerly held my job and get her insights. It was the first I'd been there in more than 30 years so I was pretty enthused. Things started well right off the bat when Hertz ran out of mid-sized cars and gave me a Corvette convertible instead.

Then I booked a room for the week in a cool old hotel.

While I was there I was able to go down and see my aunt and cousin in Aptos, near Santa Cruz. We had dinner, walked on the beach and had some good talks.

I had dinner one night with a vendor from India. I've known him a couple of years and he and his whole family live in San Jose. His wife is an amazing cook. We had dinner and talked into the night.

Friday I had dinner with my former co-worker Jill at the Tadich Grille which is the oldest restaurant in SF. I had the Lobster Thermadore. I highly reccomend it.

Friday night and Saturday I spent with Pollen Heath, a girl I met on Facebook.

We had dinner Friday in San Rafael after I'd spent the afternoon taking pictures in Muir Woods. We got cool pictures of the Golden Gate Bridge that night.

Saturday she took me on a tour of really good wineries in Sonoma County since she works at one and could get us lots of discounts. My favorite was the Hop Kiln Winery.

Sunday I was back in SF before I had to fly out so I ate lunch at the hotel I'd stayed in all week...mmmm sweet potato fries with chipotle BBQ sauce! and then walked around the waterfront getting more shots before I had to fly back home.

You can see all the albums here:

San Francisco, Aptos and Santa Cruz

Muir Woods and the Golden Gate Bridge

Sonoma County

Near Petaluma and back down to SF

Unfortunately time ran out and schedules didn't match up to see some LJ friends but hopefully I'll get to go back out late this year and I can see people then.

Looks like a fantastic odyssey.

Nice to "meet" you by the way.

And you as well. Yep, I've had some good adventures so far this year.

Sonoma County is gorgeous. I was there years ago and yearn to go back.

I just regret I had but one day to do it.
