What's Up?

Fortunately not much is up with me today. I finally made a resolution last night to start excersizing and lose weight. I was sore from the weekend allready so I decided to just start walking each day. So last night I did about 1.5 miles and I plan to hold steady there for a bit and then increase as time goes on. It kind of makes me depressed to know that 18 years ago, I could easily hike 50 miles on a weekend and routinely hiked the 26 miles from a cabin in the mountains of NM to basecamp to pick up supplies and now I walk 2 miles and I'm pretty well winded. A couple years ago Deb and I were visiting this Anasazi ruin site in NM and there was this ancient kiva about 400 feet up this cliff with a series of ladders and stirs leading to it. There was this sign that it wasa moderately intense climb and that people with heart trouble should not attempt it. Deb didn't want me to do it because she was afraid I would have a heart attack. So of course i had to do it to prove to myself and her I could. I did do it but it damed near did make me have a heart attack. Damn I'm out of shape. I'm pretty damned strong as far as lifting things and general labor but my endurance has gone to shit over the last 10 years. No more. Time to get back to a respectable weight. I'm 263 now and want to be down around 210. So I've given up between meal snacks and candy which is a big problem for me and will attempt to do daily excersize. Anyway, that's my plan.

Walking is great. I do a lot of walking around the indoor track at school as well as to and from class. Sometimes I walk so much I enter an altered state of consciousness around a mile and a half or so. That's usually my goal when I go to the track. Of course, a really rockin' tape doesn't hurt the attainment of that goal either...

That's true, I always like good music whenver I'm doing any sort of real work.
