Murphy's Law of vacations

And it was written that if a man will undertake to go on vacation, his co-workers will magically find out and inundate him with mundane requests for budgets and photo shoots. And he will undertake to fulfill all said mundane tasks, even the photos of side by side Big Macs and Double Cheeseburgers, but in the end will fail to achieve all tasks requested of him and have to play catch up after said vacation.

Vacation starts at 12:30 pm Friday and lasts until the wee hours of August 17. Head to NM and CO.

Peace,

Wander

I look forward to seeing your photos when you get back. I hope you find some ruins along the way.

And yea, if thou shalt see a man about to go on vacation, TEST the man, by which ye shall know his strength.

Or at least ye shall know the approximate point at which he is supremely READY to go on vacation.

Back when I had a stressy newspaper job, I used to LOVE how "vacations" were structured - you never actually got to "leave," given that at any point your boss might call and say, "Well, we've got a situation." Or even, "Do you know where 'blank' is? Or how to make it work?" Until he finally got the idea, based on about two vacations HE tried to take. Really, my favorite part about "vacations" was that you had to do twice as much work in half as much time before you went, and had to play catch-up for two weeks after you got back.

Hang in there, it's almost that time!

This is another reason I don't give cell phone numbers to anyone. I have left when there was a lot going on and left a contact number or told people I'd try to check email. But not on my NM vacations. These are about rest and discovery.

Everybody needs that, and I don't think very many people take enough time to do it.

Even if I did nothing but find a bar and drink everyday in NM I'd have a good vacation. But I'm going for lots of photos this year.

I'm going to be obnoxious and demand a postcard of a Big Mac. Have fun and be safe!

It would be really nice if McDonalds cared enough about their product to do a minimum with presentation. But I'll send you a sample of what I shot.

Now how can you have fun and be safe at the same time?
