The costume

I paid almost $50 for a mediocre cape at a costume store last night. Too bad I don't know anyone who makes costumes or period clothing. Hint hint.

Can't help ya, man. By the time I buy the fabric and mail it to ya, there ya go, it'll probably cost just as much. Sewing doesn't seem to work on the small scale that way. It only works on the large scale--like my capes are wool lined with silk and hand embroidered all up and down and as of 2 years ago, those fuckers are waterproofed dammit! All of which you can't buy.
But a cape was my first sewing project so if you run out and buy a pattern, I guarantee it's dead easy to learn to do. Hint, hint.

The sewing machine would cost me more than $50 I'm sure. I'm willing to pay for quality.

Depends on the fabric ... (and how tall you are..) One may or may not be able to make one for cheaper.

6'3". I've made costumes before. I could probably have made a better cape. I really needed one with a hood. This one is completely polyester. I've paid less than $50 for several yards of black velvetish material before that I use to cover tables at my jewelry shows.
