Best Meal I Ever Had

Ala the Food Network's current special.

The Best meal I ever had has to be put in the proper context to understand and I'll tell the whole story soon. Suffice to say I was all strung out on lack of sleep and too little food or water for too many days.

Sardines from a can on top of unsalted Uneeda Biscuits and a bottle of Bacardi 151 to chase it down with.

A close second was a cold pot of chicken ala king, eaten in the dark and in the rain with only my bare hands as utensils.

What was the best meal you ever had?

Every meal I have is the best meal I ever had. I just really really like food. Really really.
Really.
I try to not shove my head in a trough and shovel it in with 2 hands but I really really like food. This is what stands between me and being 400 pounds because I am always hungry, I never get full, and I'm never sated. Never.
Unabashedly, I admit that the greatest meal I ever ate as a child was at a Smorgasbord restaurant I went when I was 7 or 8. My Grandparents took me and I thought I was in heaven. They told me that I could go back as many times as I wanted!
And I wanted 5 times.
Then I was introduced to the dessert area! JOY!

Pretty much all my fondest memories are food related.

Well, it was a while ago, but I recall a big, fat joint, a bag of Krystal burgers and later, oreos & milk.

Those were the days!

This is where I miss out. Pot does absolutely nothing for me but put me to sleep. I don't even get the munchies.

That's what it does to me now on the rare occasions that I partake, but I think the THC levels were quite a bit lower back then (say--the mid 70's). Heh.

A cold MRE (we didn't know that you had/could eat it), which was cheeseburger mac, and a real, cold Coke. 2005, after we were "rescued" post Katrina.

Yep, similar circumstances for my two. Well not rescued from a disaster but really hungry to the point where something vaguely real is the best thing you've ever had.

Oh wait...no. False alarm.
In the girl's home I lived at, we had, "endurance trips," which as a fancy name for backpacking. We'd be in the Rocky Mountains or The Grand Canyon for a week or 2, living on utter shit. Only eat the crap we could carry and cook and a lot of the time, I'd just skip meals because it was so nasty. Afterward, we'd go to a restaurant for a celebration meal.
But I don't remember anything I ever ate at one of those shindigs.

The chicken ala king was a dehydrated hiking meal. Not bad if you doctor them up a bit.

They never let us have that. Too expensive. It was all plain oatmeal or mac and cheese and occasionally deviled ham.
