Movin' on Up

Today I registered the following domains:

www.beardancerstudios.com - for my photography business
www.pinkcoyotedesigns.com - for my jewelry business
www.stonesoupretreats.com - for the metaphysical retreat series that a friend and I conceived and which will now be executed by myself and another friend.

And continuing in the "professional and responsible business owner" vein, I hired a professional web design and marketing person to do my websites. They are not up yet so don't go clicking the links or anything. What more than decade of being in business has proven to me is that I should leave the marketing up to people who know how to do it right. I suck at it and I'm tired of coming up with website designs targeted at an audience. I'm much better at taking photos or making jewelry and that's what I should stick to as a business person.

The Marketing person has already given me homework and made me actively participate in promoting myself. It's a nice way to think.

So here is to productive websites and eCommerce and actually making some money from my work.

good on you.

those are killer domains. and they all end in the plural. that's where people screw up, I think.

I think so too. it was long past time for me to step up and do things right and quit treating things as hobbies.

well, when it finally goes live, do share it here.

I'll definitely do that. The first two should happen pretty quickly. The last one will be a work in progress over a few weeks.

Hopefully they will do great business too. The latter is totally non-profit though a book might emerge from it.

It's so hard, this area of doing your own thing: you do THAT THING very well, whatever it is... and reconciling whatever your particular skill is with the web, and with email... well, that's different. Bringing them together CAN be a wonderful thing. The hard part for an artist, I think, is trusting that to another person.

Definitely. But I'm finally ready to surrender that part of it to SOMEONE who makes it their own art form.

Good. Sounds like you have a lot of potential.

I have always thought your shamanic presence was fully alive in the culture, even in the business/professional world and it's SO GREAT to see you close the formal ritual circles in that zone as well.

As much as I fight to stay clear of the formal business world with my shamanic pursuits, I realize that having a formal space where people can migrate to for information and contact might help more people than just me putting my vibe out there.

I've always loved your jewelry, I'm glad you're going to finally be able to do this.

That's good because we are probably going to spam you with email updates about it.
