Pre-Memorial Day Weekend Update

Sitting here ar my desk at work having just finished my goals for the year...yes I do realize it's almost June and I'm just now finishing my goals. Needless to say this year is flying by. On the upside of not stating your goals until late May, you can put in a whole bunch of stuff you've already accomplished. Method to my madness.

We are staying in town tonight and heading to the farm tomorrow. Staying in town because I want to catch a new band called Boomtangle at the Town Clock at 5 and then at 9 there is a CD release party for a duo called Statue of Liberty and they are using a photo I shot of them for their interior CD art.

And actually if you go to their site following the band link above, a little more than half the photos on the site were ones I shot and the other half were done by my friend and fellow photographer Aaron Roeth. The design work was done by a local painter and music promoter named Dean Wellman who heads up a Neil Young tribute band called Sun Green.

Lots of local bands are now using my images. Its really pretty gratifying to go into a club on a Saturday night and all the posters of upcoming acts on the door feature your images.

We'll be at the farm for the rest of the weekend. I'm sure my Dad has a huge list of stuff for me to help him with. I don't so much mind because it's time I get to spend with my Dad not arguing which sadly has consumed a good chunk of my younger adult life. And the man won't be around forever. Mom will be off visiting siblings I'm sure. Hopefully Deb and I will be able to take in a winery at some point on the trip or at least go for a drive in my pretty truck.

I just ordered $300 worth of parts for my Pretty Truck which amounted to new door seals, arm rests and molded rubber matting for the floor. Looks like I'll just have to spend a little out of each paycheck on it. But in the end, it's a farm truck so I doubt I'll take it to the point of being a show truck.

I ordered a muffler for my car and I'll get that installed this weekend and change the oil. 276,000 miles and it's still getting 38 miles per gallon. I need to change the timing belt and put some new rear shocks on and then I'll probably drive it out west and east this year again.

Next weekend I'm heading down to Kentucky to see Kim Upton and work on a few projects we have underway. It's been an odd year in that I've not taken a significant vacation yet and it's almost June. I hope to remdy that starting the weekend of June 18 when I head out to Colorado for a reunion in Colorado Springs. From there I was originally planning to Hit Joshua Tree National Park and then drive up the coast highway to Seattle and back home but I'll have to see what the spirits dictate on that one.

Interesting, arguing. It's in biology, probably. Somehow we never had any arguing with my kids - which does not mean anything, just an observation; I don't believe the fact had a positive or negative impact on future relations.

We are just too much alike and too stubborn in some instances but there was a big rift for several years and I think we are both being careful not to go down that road again.

I'm impressed with your car's longevity.
Joshua Tree is fantastic. Enjoy.

If I get there, I will. Right now it seems like all the thought channels are jammed so I can't get clear signals on where I'm supposed to go.
