WooHoo!!!

Oh Yeah I'm Good! I just finished everything for the Mechanical Drawing book. 1131 separate pieces of art and all the image credits. Now I can put this thing to bed and move back to my other book, Carpentry. Mechanical Drawing is the 4th book I've finished in 3 years of working here. I love putting a project to bed!!

*Pats himself on the back*

Peace,

Wander

Re:
Yes it is. I downloaded several of them a few years ago and I change them around from time to time. I've got a few of his prints in my office and at home. I really love the style. JD Challenger and RC Gorman too I use. I love Southwestern art. I've met RC Gorman a time or two ad JD Challenger as well. Never met Frank Howell yet.

Re:
Hate to burst your bubble, but Frank died a few years back. I dated his daughter in high school, and hung out with him a few times. I love a great majority of his work, but am not a big SW art fan... I was intrigued by your icon due to the fact that I didn't think he was that well known....

Re:
Oh well, chalk that up on the list of people I'll never meet in this life. Still his art survives and it's a great legacy. Cool that you dated his daughter. How was he? Pretty down to earth or more the eclectic artist type? Gorman, man you wouldn't even know he was an artist. I met him when he was passing out copies of the Taos phone book. He had gotten one of his prints on the cover and they gave him a stack and he was passing them out. He bought us all a pitcher of beer and we sat around talking about women and art and landscape and just getting drunk. Cool times.

I discovered Frank Howell's stuff in Taos as well and bought a small print back in the early 90's I think. And I've been a big fan ever since.

Re:
Ack..Should be starting to get cold now. When I first moved there from Virginia in 85, I lived in Red River and then Taos. Eventually I moved down to Cimarron to be with my girl. Then we moved out to the little artists community of Miami which is populated with rich people now...go figure. I worked full time construction in Eagle Nest and bartended at night. In my spare time I created wood cut prints and did photography to sell and get in the galleries. I also worked for some intenerant newspapers in the area from time to time which gave me license and funding to explore. I really like the area around Pecos. And of course I'll always love Taos. I also did some work on ranches in Northern NM for awhile.

When I was back in 94 for the summer, I dated a girl from Los Lunas so I got in a lot of travelling back and forth from Cimarron to Albuquerque.

I've still got lots of friends out there and visit about once a year. Someday I'll go back for good I think.

Re:
I would be more tempted to go back if there was more $$$ to be made. I'm not greedy, I just need to be able to pay my bills. I just had a look at your site.....you have some pretty cool stuff....

Re:
Thanks, a lot of it is inspired by my time in NM. Yeah I hear you on the monetary part. It's one reason I left initially. You really ahve to find a niche to live there or be content living in Albuquerque which I'm not. But maybe I'll retire there sometime or just buy a small adobe out in the middle of nowhere and visit from time to time. If I was self sufficient I'd be there in a heart-beat. I've heard lots of places being called God's Country but NM fits the bill most closely for me.

Oh yeah, I love the NM Sky. Day or night. I have clear skies here at my farm too. No light pollution at all. Reminds me a lot of out there.
