Nostalgia

Back when I was first married in 86, my wife worked in an Art Gallery in this little town in Northern, NM. In the front part of it was a little gift shop where they sold Navajo Jewelry at a reasonable price and they also had an old time soda fountain. Those old kind of counter stool you could spin around on and they made banana splits served in glass banana boats with three scoops of real hand dipped ice cream, toppings and real whipped cream all for $1.25. They also had a selction of great teas and coffees. So on days when I wasn't waiting tables at the St. James Hotel, I would mosey on over and have a cup of tea and a banana split. Not the most nutritious breakfast but hey, I was young and calories didn't matter then like they do now.

I would try all the new teas whenever they would come in. I developed quite a fondness for Earl Grey, English Breakfast, Irish Breakfast, Darjeeling, Oolong and Pepermint Gunpowder teas. Jasmine Green tea was the occasional treat I allowed myself as it cost a little more than the others.

I still love a good gup of tea in the morning and another before bed.

Unfortunately now I can't do the caffeine thing anymore so I'm constantly on the lookout for Decaf versions of my favorite teas. Twinings makes an excellent Decaf Earl Grey and Irish Breakfast but i have a hard time finding the Jasmine Green or even a decent tasting green tea in decaf and I hate how Celestial Seasonings green tastes. They should have stuck with thier fruit teas and not ventured into the balck tea market.

So if anyone knows a good source for a variety of decaf teas, I'll do something special for you.

Peace,

Wander

Re:
Well that's the problem. I can't find it anywhere. Peppermint gunpowder is an excellent blend of teas too. The caffeinated variety will keep you going all day. Unfortunately it will also give me one hell of a headache.

I know how it is. I didn't drink caffiene for two weeks over break and now I've lost my tolerance. Oh well. It was starting to bother me anyway.

Re:
It's not the worst thing in the world to give up you know. Plenty of ways to be stimulated without caffeine.

Hungry cat outside the door usually does it for me.

Three hungry cats. And a hungry dog. The gerbils are pretty quiet.

I was thinking of more fun ways but whatever floats your boat I guess.

What, tripping over a cat and falling down a half-spiral staircase at seven a.m. isn't your idea of fun? Takes all kinds I guess.

Re:
Most things having to do with cats aren't my idea of fun. You have more patience than I do. So far i've stepped on Jasper twice and kicked him across the kitchen once when he accidentally got caught underfoot. The minute he actually trips me ai'm having Deb return him for a refund. Pardon me sir but you sold us a defective cat!

Re:
I'm sure that's their view. Most cats seem to consider themselves the center of the Universe.

What I really love in the winter is iced tea made from green tea. It's just soooo refreshing.
