Growing my own

In addition to everything else I'll be growing in my garden this spring, I'm going to grow sweetgrass and tobacco. Now I just need to find someone who is willing to go to San Bernadino and pick sage for me and work out some kind of trade.

Re:
I've always just picked the leaves off the plant. You might have to check with an herbal shop or something. I'm sure you have those places around there. I used to get it from this woman in Long beach who went to the San Bernadino mountains to pick it but we have since had a falling out and she won't even acknowledge my emails anymore so I need to start finding another source. You might be able to find someone around ther who picks it. I can pay for it or work out a trade of some sort.

Seriously though, if you have any old hippie types around who are into Indian ritual, ask them about where to get the sage.

Here's a better set of photos. If you do pick some, just be careful and be sure to tell the plant you are picking the leaves to be used for ceremonial purposes.

any reason the sage must be from San Bernadino?

Re:
Well actually it just needs to be white sage although all sage is sacred. It's just that the White Sage from San Bernadino is the stuff everyone tends to use and it's the smell everyone that uses sage for metaphysical purposes associates with burning sage. I gather sage in New Mexico wheneveer I'm out there and it works fine too though. The kitchen sage lots of people grow has a slightly different smell when it is burning.
