Birthday - The day in review

First off, thanks to everyone who posted or sent me birthday greetings yesterday! I feel so loved and so fortunate to have all of you as friends!

It was a really good day. For some reason I woke up at 4:44 am but I decided, what the hell, go with it. So I had a cup of hot sassafrass tea and waited for the sun to come up. When it started to rise, I went outside, spread my arms and said, "Good morning Father Sun. I'm awake and alive and 37 years old. Today is going to be a good day!"

The Navajos believe that when Father Sun rises each morning, he takes a count of those who are awake to greet him and counts those people as being alive and worthy to receive the blessings of a new day. Those people who are still asleep are counted as being dead and do not receive the day's blessing. I ddin't want to be counted as being dead on my birthday.

I met Gwen at Dee's Cafe at 8. Actually, it was Gwen, Rob and Robbie. Gwen's mom, Lynette who cooks there brought me out a Denver omelete with a candle in it and she and all the old fogey morning coffee drinkers and hangover recoverers sang Happy Birthday too me and it was largely out of tune. Oh well, at least they care.

We sat around and talked about the North Carolina fireworks show the first weekend of May and who would be going. Deb and I are for sure going. Gwen is 7 months pregnant and that will be getting close to her delivery date so I don't think she will be going. Robbie can't go because of work at the Post Office. Rob may be working or not so we'll see. Anyone who is on my friend's list who want's to see fireworks up close and personal, this might be your chance. Deb and I can't do the show by ourselves.

After breakfast, I did a little shopping at the hardware store and then went back to the farm. I called the alignments place to see if they could fit my car in and they said 1:00. So I went for a long walk in the woods with Jake. It was just relaxing, listening to the wind blow through the trees and hearing the sound of the creek gurgling over the rocks. Jake had fun swimming though the water is mostly runoff from melting snow so I can't imagine it was too warm.

When I came back, I started the tractor and had some fun running through the still melting snow drifts. The fileds are pretty mushy, I don't think I'll be pulling out any fence this weekend. It would be pretty embarrassing to get the tractor stuck in the mud since it's what I use to pull trucks out of the mud all the time.

I had some of my cake for lunch. Hell it was my birthday, I can eat whatever I want. Afterward, I went up to the alignment place. Good newss was it didn't need an alignment. Bad news was it did need a new tire. So off I went to Wally World for a coupel hours of waiting while thye gave me a new tire. The cost ended up being about the same as the alignment actaully.

Went back to the house and just sat out on the porch wit ha bottle of Duplin County, NC wine and watched the world go by, enjoying the sun on my face.

At 5, I packed everything up and headed back to the city. Deb took me out to Olive Garden to eat and we had fun listening to the two goth kids at the next table talk about "fucking this" and "fucking that" which pretty much made us realize how old we are. Two things I'll never understand, men who don't take thier hats off in public places even if it is part of your "look" and people who tap their cigarette packs incesantly. If that chick tapped hers one more time, I was seriously going to go grab them from her hand.

Dinner was excellent. I had soooo much to eat. Stuffed mushrooms, sausage and potato bisque, those wonderful breadsticks, lasagna, too many glasses of wine and of course that fabulous desert. Berry Crustado. Blueberries in Balckberry sauce inside a baked puff pastry with sugar crystals on top. Three scoops of vanilla bean ice cream all drizzled with raspberry syrup....mmmmmmmmmm.

Went home later and got comfortable and watched O Brother, Where Art Thou on DVD until we got tired around midnight. Went to bed and had positively mind blowing sex before falling aslep and cuddling all night.

I thought of all of you too....hehehehehe.

Now back to work. I just ordered a new clutch for my Jetta which I have to install this weekend. I also have a gem show to go to in Macomb so if anyone is looking for particular stones, let me know.

Peace,

Wander

Nope. There's stuff going on down there. Plus it's a ninety-minute commute each way. I'm hoping I can stay with my night class walking buddy from last semester if she ever calls me back.

Re:
Ah, just grab the Dragon and go camping at the beach or something. I always hated spend Spring Break at school. Warning, you shouldn't watch the Cornerstone tape around easily offended Christians because we make a few anti-Christian kind of comments while we are doing the set-up for it.

Can't. Gotta be at Rose. My Spring Break is the first week of April.

Re:
Wow, that's pretty late. Sucks to be in one of those programs that does that. I was mostly too poor to go anywhere but then I always lived off campus so it didn't really matter.

Pitt County and ECU aren't on the same schedule. You also can't work any outside jobs while in Senior I and II or I would be off campus. As it is, I'm a proud member of the Cainta Fordit club right now.
